Question re ordering cupcakes at BoG

Are the cupcakes delivered with the meal at BoG (we have lunch ADR), or are they delivered a bit after the meal? I'm asking because we're dining there right on DH's birthday and I was thinking it would be nice if they brought the cupcakes a bit after our meals with a candle in one for DH. Just trying to keep it simple. I have in-room dining surprise delivering stuff to our room, but I wanted just a little surprise in BoG.

At lunch they deliver all the food at once from cart roaming the rooms. It is just QS at lunch, the only difference between it and every other park QS is the delivery to your table rather than making you wait for the food at the window. At dinner they deliver in courses.

Well shoot. Thanks for the reply jenjersnap. We've had lunch at BoG many times, but we've never ordered dessert so I wasn't sure when they were brought to the table.

We had a different experience. At lunch, my mom's soup came out first, followed by our meals a few minutes later, and finally the cupcakes. I'd estimate the cupcakes came out about 10 minutes after our meals (while we were still eating).

Interesting. It must vary. We have eaten lunch twice and both times they dumped soup, entrees and cupcakes on the table at once. I guess there is a chance, OP! :)

i've been 5 times for lunch.
the first time i ate there as the day it opened and they did bring the dessert out after your meal but then again they were working out the kinks.
every time after that the dessert was brought out with the food.
its just easier for everyone that way.
you should ask a CM by the kiosks as you order (or if you preoder ask a CM when you walk up to confirm your order is correct)
they may or may not bring it with a candle in it.

Been over 6 times now and everything, soup and cupcakes always came at one time. Logistically it seems like too much work and wasted manpower given it's only a counter service.

This is indeed good news that it has been done in the past, at least. I know it makes more sense to just bring everything at once, but maybe they'd make an exception since it's a birthday.... Thanks everyone! Hope it works!

Given the number of guests in the MK on a given day, I would think scores - if not hundreds - of people are celebrating something they would like recognized each day. I don't think you should expect an "exception" for your husbands birthday lunch at BOG. Just don't want you disappointed that day.

Based on the number of people wearing celebration buttons, probably half the visitors to DW are celebrating a special event - birthday, anniversary, graduation, engagement, honeymoon, family reunion, first visit, a life changing event - so it is not possible to recognize everyone's special moment. It is up to the individual restaurant and at a place as busy as BOG you can ask, but it might not be possible to fulfill your request. Like the in-room surprise you have planned, if you want something special at a restaurant it is best to plan it yourself. If you want a candle for his cupcake, you might want to bring one just in case.

If you book a table service restaurant and note on the reservation its for a birthday then you may get an extra cupcake with a candle.

Thanks for info everyone. We actually have been celebrating our twins' birthdays each year in WDW for about the past 10 years (lol), so I understand about celebrations, etc. I was just curious about the timing of when they deliver cupcakes at BoG lunch, so I appreciate the info. I'll just ask if they can delay the delivery of the cupcakes a bit is all, and that will be perfect. Thanks, all!

Lol - no disappointments at all...we're veterans at celebrating birthdays in WDW:), so I understand the logistics. I'm just going to see if they can delay the delivery of the cupcakes a bit is all. If not, that's really ok!

I think the one issue is that you don't really have a sever.

On one of the pod casts they hated that BOG lunch is QS in a restaurant designed for TS. Never been there but its my understanding that you don't even place your order with a person but a computer screen.

good luck

just as long as you realize its highly unlikely that they will agree to delay the cupcake as that is not how BOG operates at lunch.
its possible that they will agree to bring it with a candle in it but thats no guarantee either.

It's really not a big deal either way! But just in case anyone is interested, I will follow up on this thread and let you guys know how it went. It's 3 weeks away, though....

That is interesting. We have had lunch at Be Our Guest about 10 times and dessert is always brought with lunch.

1) This is a QS, not a TS.
2) At a TS eatery, they frequently do such things.
3) A QS id meant for fast food.
4) Such is not the norm.
5) Ask for a cupcake-and-candle at your TS meal.
