Question re: making reservations --1st Visit

I am just in the process of trying to make all our reservations to go to Disney at the end of April.
I am pretty sure we are gonna stay at the Pop Century.
I would like to know if i have to make a resrevation through the main Disney reservation line or can i call the hotel directly. Does anyone know where i can get the number?
Also, when you make the reservation do you put a deposit or is it just a 4 pm hold.

According to allears, if you go through cro (room only), it's a 1 night deposit within 14 days of booking, balance due at checkin. If you go through the WaltDisney Travel Co.(any package) it's $200 within 14 days, balance due 45 days before checkin.
