Question re:January Visit

So we are thinking of going to WDW in January (Jan 10 thru 14) it's my 40th Birthday
I want to stay in a DELUXE resort. I am thinking the Boardwalk Inn
I have been researching and prices ARE REALLY high
Should I book a moderate and keep my fingers crossed for a deal and hope there will be special offers coming out soon for my timeline OR do I book a deluxe? Does WDW offer refunds if a better deal comes out? What do I do? Help!!!

Are they going to come with any discounts for January 2012?

I am not sure. I entered in my dates, ticket selection, NO didning plan and for a deluxe its like $2500 and ONLY for 4 nights! am I just out of it and thats the going rate?? Plus I want to bring my parents and I would have to get them their own room. I just want this to be a once in a lifetime trip
My Dad has parkinsons and his health isnt all that great, and I just want to have a fabulous birthday with my parents and kids
I am not sure what to book. Should I book now or wait for discounts

I just got an email from Disney Visa, save 30% on select moderates and 35% at select deluxe hotels, for stays most nights 1/2/12-2/20/12. It says on October 5th it will become available to the general public. It will be a room only discount, so you would have to purchase your tickets separately. We always get our tickets from Undercover Tourist, they are a bit cheaper than Disney and very reliable. OP, hopefully this will help.

Don't forget that about $1000 of that $2500 is for park tickets (not sure of the ages of your kids and if they are adults or children for tickets.)

The park ticket prices won't change no matter where you stay. As baileykelly indicated there should be a room only discount coming out shortly.

Another possible thing to look into is to rent DVC points from a member or from a company that rents points.
