Hi, I was wondering if anyone has stayed in FW Cabins??

If so, what were they like?? Would you stay in them again?? What was the transport like??

thanks alot!!:thumbsup2

We stayed in the cabins last October and absolutely loved them :yay: was the best decision we made, choosing to stay there.

I cannot comment much about the internal Bus system as we hired a Disney Golf Cart, but the external buses ie to the Parks and the Boat to the MK was fault less, I have heard negative opinions though too on the buses so I think it may depend on how busy that particular time of year is when you travel.

The only negative, be it minor was the lack of storage in the actual cabin, we are a family of 6 and struggled with all our luggage, this may have been added to due to us staying for over 3 weeks :confused3

However it cant have bothered us that much as we have booked again for this coming October  and having previously stayed at various other Disney Hotels ie AKL this is the first one we are returning too.

The whole relaxing atmosphere, the wildlife, the sun first thing in the morning on your decking whilst eating breakfast :cloud9: loved it, loved it, loved it.

You may want to try doing a search on the Disney Camping forum as there are stacks of posts on there relating to the cabins and the campground from the contents of the Cabins to the Campground and all what it has to offer ie campfire singalong with Chip & Dale, Mickeys BBQ etc.

Feel free to ask me any further questions who may have :flower3:

We stayed here for the 1st time last septmeber and loved it:lovestruc :lovestruc .

We never had a golf cart and we found the transport, both internal and to the parks fine. We sometimes walked to the main bus stop as it was only a 5 min walk so if we had seen a bus just pass it was quicker to walk. And the boat over to MK is lovely.

Our kids loved the whole resort, it was so quiet and peaceful, we were in the smaller pool often, as it was closer, and there were never more than 4 other famillies in it withus.

If you do stay here order some groceries through gardengrocer and you can have breakfast in the cabins before you go out.

We have been to Florida 6 times and this was our best holiday yet and that was due to the cabins. It was so relaxing and it was lovely to be able to put the kids to bed and sit out on the deck or in the living room

I never have, but the DisUnplugged Podcast reviewed them fairly recently if you check back in their archives! They gave it a great review, with loads of helpful hints and information! :thumbsup2

thanks for this - it sounds terrific - I am definitely swaying towards this - I am a huge Chip n Dale fan and have never been to the campfire, so that might be the deciding factor!! - Does this happen all year round??? And if so, would it be too late for my boys (my youngest will then be 3)???

thanks ever so much!!:lovestruc

Hello Again:wave2:

Yes, the Campfire Singalong is every evening. It happens just before the Movies is show, which is also a great experience. During our last trip we attended the Singalong and then snuggled down to watch the movie straight after, great experience.

There are smores, (marshmellows to us) to roast over the campfire or you can bring your own, if you fancy watching the movies afterwards the schedule is posted a month in advance on the Camping Boards so you can plan which day you would prefer in accordance to what movie is being shown:thumbsup2

With regards to your children being to young ours are DS7, DS6, DS3 & DD2 and they all loved it :yay:

With regards to groceries, and apologies for answering another persons question but I just thought it would be handy to mention that you can get groceries delivered to your cabin for the day of your arrival, or during your stay if you wish. We used Garden Grocer, www.gardengrocer.com its very much the same as getting your shopping delived at home etc, we ordered our groceries to be delivered between 4-6pm on our check in day, we advised guest services prior to our arrival that we were expecting groceries been delivered incase we were not at the cabins by this time. When we did eventually check in (we got seriously lost :confused3 ) the CM advised me that our groceries had been delivered and all unpackedin our cabin ie Milk was in the Fridge etc. :wizard: Only at Disney ay !!!!

Also doing it this way you pay considerably less then the Campsite prices. Yes the shop does stock most items but the prices are crazy:scared1:

I REALLY want to try the FW cabins now!!  (Just have to persuade DH that its worth spending the extra £200 over ASM Family suites!! - He likes the idea of us having a seperate bedroom to the children - but I am trying to sell him the campfire, boat to MK, beach, parking by our cabin - surely that far outwieghs the seperate room thing!!;) )

Could I jump in here and ask how you would go about booking the cabins? I looked on the UK Disney site after viewing the Dis video review they did just a month or two ago, but didn't see it offered along with the other resorts :confused3.
Op, do make sure that along with the Podcast review you see the video, it'l really get you excited for your trip! The resort looks lovely. I'm excited for you myself :goodvibes!

I have been looking at the UK site the last few days pricing up for new years 2009 (just to get an estimation for 2010:rolleyes:) and Fort Wilderness cabins were on there then - so hopefully you should see it if you went on there now!!:thumbsup2
