question re: disney dining

I have never used the dining plan before. My question is, if we wanted to do a character dinner, do we use the table service for that day plus another day besides? If that is the case then we have to pay for a dinner out of pocket. Is that right?

If you have DP and want a character meal you just use one table service meal. hte first time we went to disney we ate 6 character meals with no out of pocket exp. The only exception is Cinderalla's rt is a 2 meal price. If you want a princess meal I would reccoment Akerhaus in EPCot it is a princess theme as well and counts for only one meal.

My kids love the character meals so we try to do as many as we can since they only use 1 table service credit per person. Cinderella's Royal Table uses 2 table service credits per person. We have never had to pay out of pocket for any meals since we use the DDP. When we eat at CRT, we are fine using 2 table service credits per person because when we go to AK we only eat at counter service for both our meals.

There are a few "signature" meals that require 2 TS credits. CRT and HDDR are two that come to mind. If you click on the "Dining" link at the top of the DISboards page, you should find all the info you need about that.

We are using 4 TS credits in one day. We're having CRT breakfast, then going to HDDR for dinner. It really helped me to make out a spreadsheet with all the days and meal plans so I could make sure I had all the bases covered. We'll have about 3 meals OOP during our 10-day trip.

We also shared our counter service meals in addition to a few pop tart breakfast's to not have any out of pocket meals with the dining plan. We also used a spreadsheet to outline our itineray for meals and parks/activities. It was very useful!

My dh and I go every year without our grown kids and grandkids and we always eat at the character meals. They are so much fun even for old people. LOL Enjoy
