Question re: dining plan and room occupancy

We have one adult checking into the room on day 1 of our vacation, then a second adult checking in three days later. Do we have to get the dining plan for both adults for the entire say, even though adult #2 will be checking in 3 days later, only staying 3 nights while adult #1 will be staying 6 nights?

Has anyone done this before?

Every person on the reservation has to have the dining plan (or none do, of course) for the entire length of the stay. The credits belong to the room, however, not to the individuals, and so with people coming and going the credits could be allocated as needed over the course of the reservation.

You have to get the same dining plan for everyone listed on the reservation for the full length of the reservation.

Some of my client have done this, no problem using the extra DDP credits for others in the room. They figured out the cost of lost DDP days and covered that portion of the trip so the person with the shorter stay wasn't paying for meals he didn't eat.

Each person must have the same type of tickets too, so get the minimum amount of ticket days, then some in the party can upgrade their tickets with the extra days needed while they are there. Once you check in all the tickets are individual, no longer tied to package rules.

Make sure the Magical Express does have the correct information, esp. for the return trip if it's different.

Thanks for the info! Our situation is this: we are getting 2 rooms, one for my mom and one for me and my kids. My husband will be coming later, and will be checking into my mom's room, then my mom will switch to my room. We only need the dxddp for both me and my mom, so we are getting it for her room - 2 adults for 6 nights. So I will use it until my husband arrives, then he can use it and I'll be so full I won't want to eat anything more anyway!

I'll be sharing my dxddp meals with my 2 year old and for my 6 year old I'll pay out of pocket.
