When we were at Disney in June of 2005 I remember seeing they had children's pin trading one night at the Wilderness Lodge. I would love for DD to participate on our next trip and wondered how I could find out if they still do this. Thanks!:)

All the regular resort pintrading nights(All-Stars, Contemporary Lobby, Port Orleans?, etc) have been discontinued :( . Now the only Disney-organized pin trading 'event' I am aware of is the new one held one Friday a month at the Contemporary's Convention Center.
I attended the first one this past Friday and it was PACKED. Had preview pins (just to look at), plus some pins/merchandise for purchase. They had to open up another section in the room we were in. There was a special section where 3-12 year-olds could trade (cast lanyards?) off of two big bulletin boards.

There's always Scoop Sanderson's pin trading seminars in the Magic Kingdom. I think Epcot might stil have that "Pin Jeopardy" thing that runs out of MouseGears in the afternoon?

There's usually a pin-trading crowd at Downtown Disney's Pin Trading Store (near Earl of Sandwich & Once Upon A Toy). Be aware, though, there are probably sharks in them waters...

Consider having your DD trade with CMs only, but monitor the interactions (not all CMs know the rules, etc).

agnes!

Inside the doorway in the Breezeway going to Mission:Space at 5 PM they bring out a pin board for timed trading. There is a green section on the board just for kids. They did it last Sunday.

I am a newbie to the concept of pin trading. I would like to get some pins for my children to trade on our vacation in June. How many pins should I start my kids out with ? I have looked on ebay and am not really sure where the best place to get pins is, but I would like to try. Any suggestions would be greatly welcome.

You can buy a starter set at Disney (I think that runs somewhere between $30.00 and $40.00 range) that comes with the Lanyard and either 6 or eight pins that are duplicates one for your child to keep and one to trade. Las time we were there I know they had a Toy Story and a Disney Princess set. There is a thread somewhere on this board with a list of some of the reputable dealers on ebay. They do sell pins in packs at Disney that are good for trading. Again I am not sure but I think you get 4 or 5 pins for somewhere around $25.00 or $30.00. We have always ended up having to buy several of those for DD because she loves to trade so much, so this year I am trying to stock up on ebay pins before the trip. Just check the sellers rating and make sure they are officiald Disney pins with the Disney Copyright or stamp on the back of the pin.

Thanks for the info. We don't have a disney store in my area, but I am willing to make the 45 minute trip a couple of times to stock up before my trip. I really love these boards. Everyone is so helpful and I always get lots of good information.

Before you make the trip, be sure to call. My 3 area Disney stores do not carry pins.
