Question re car rental

We will be flying into Ft. Lauderdale for a few days, renting a car and then driving to Universal where we will ditch the car.

My question for all the experts is what is the cheapest and most convenient way to do this? Are there any drop off places at Universal or can we utilize a pick up service?

We will be doing the exact same thing , and I asked a similar question a day or two ago. We plan to rent a one-way rental @ FLL from Hertz and drop it off at the PBH. They have a counter right in the hotel.

I just checked Hertz prices and they were three times what National was....hope there is a National nearby

Oh, I have no idea about National, sorry. Through work, we can use our corporate code and get free one way drop offs through Hertz and other perks, so I didn't really even consider price.

You might want to go over to Mousesavers.com and look up some of the codes for Hertz. If you are a AAA or Costco member, both of these get pretty good rates. And you can combine these rates with the coupons in the entertainment book.

We always use Hertz and with a bit of research have always had rates that were pretty similar to National. Maybe a few dollars higher, but not 3x.

Otherwise, if you can't find good Hertz rates, your next best bet is to just call National and see where the closest drop-off is.

But Hertz is the one that is at the three on-site hotels.
