Question - Plaza Ice Cream Parlor closed for refurb

Just saw an announcement on Mousesavers about Plaza Ice Cream Parlor being closed Jan 4 to March 27.

We have dining reservations for here for February. We've never been there so I called to dining reservations and they did not seem to know anything about it which doesn't shock me. They claim our reservation is still good.

So does anyone know more about it? Is there a portion of the restaurant that is just ice cream? I wonder what the chances are that they will just drape off the ice cream part for refurb and leave the restaurant open. I'm not sure how it's all set up in there.

I guess we'll find out. Sort of wish I knew for sure in case a letter of cancellation is forthcoming. I'd like time to choose another restaurant if need be.

The ice cream parlor is separate from the restaurant.

Okay. Thanks. I wonder if that means no shakes or sundaes for dessert. I will be sad. Well, sad, but still glad to be at Disney, but sad. Ha!

No, I'm sure the restaurant will still have ice cream. Guests will just not be able to buy ice cream cones to go from the parlor for awhiile.

They are separate establishments, so don't worry that you'll be missing anything.

FYI - the ice cream is just Edy's/Dreyers so it's the same thing you can get at the supermarket.

The Plaza Restaurant is not the same as Plaza Ice Cream Parlor. The Restaurant is a full service restaurant while the Parlor is strictly quick service ice cream.

Thanks everyone. We've not been to Plaza Restaurant before so we are looking forward to it. Actually I don't recall about an ice cream parlor near there, but I do remember getting ice cream sandwiches made at the Main Street Bakery. Not sure if that's considered the parlor or not.

Hoosier Mom- I have a ressie there first week of February.
I generally do post my experiences with Restaurants.
I too have never eaten here.

I could PM you if you want to know how it is. I dont always take pictures but I write everything down about the experience. I can let you know.
Or anyone else.

I have never been past this place when it was not packed-I think it will be good.

No, it's not the same as Main Street Bakery.
