Ok, we've never stayed onsite at Universal, actually this will be our first time even at the parks, so we are very unfamilier with it all...for all those who have stayed...if you could stay at the Portofino for $5.00 less then Royal Pacific, what would you do and why? I know that RPR is the value resort there,so shocked me when I could save $5 staying at the Portofino...I want to take in consideration that the little time we spend there wil be for the kids and the pool...any opinions on this would be appreciated, thanks!:)

How old are the kids? I absolutely love Portofino. The bathrooms are humongous! The pools are wonderful with a fun slide. Sal's Deli has amazing pizza. And the grounds are beautiful.

I'd pay a little more to stay at the Portofino -- paying less just seals the deal.

It's a much nicer hotel than RPR, IMO -- and it's not stuffy and it's not unfriendly to children. Do it, for sure.

Just booked a Portofino suite for the week before Christmas for 6 of us. We have stayed at both and prefer the Portofino.

However, the Royal Pacific is definitely not a value resort like Disney's Value resorts :goodvibes It is a 4*/4 diamond hotel. So, you really cannot go wrong with either property.

We are staying at the PBH for the first time and I have heard all good things about it. I can't wait!!

Oh yes.

I would love it if our PBH reservation were less than an RPR reservation! We moved "up" to PBH because of the room size. Last December it was just difficult mentally to go from villas at WDW to 350 square feet at RPR...so we'll tack on a couple feet for a bit more at PBH.
