Ok I dont know why Im having such a hard time getting a handle on this!

Do you pay per day or per each time you pull your car out or have it parked? If not do you tip each time?

Do you pay cash or do you charge it to your room?

Example:
I valet parked my car at GF, then I want to take it to BC, do I tip the valet to get my car and then tip at BC to park it and then when I retrieve it from BC tip and then once again tip back at the GF to have it parked?

Wow that could go on forever! LOL

Im so confused! :sad2:

You pay per day. Payment covers valet parking for that day at any resort (e.g., if you are staying at GF and have paid for the day, you can then valet park at BC without having to pay another per day fee). I always have the valet parking charged to my room.

Some people tip both when they drop off the car and then again when they pick it up, but I only tip when I pick it back up.

Ours was automatically charged to our room for each day. Not sure if this is because we were club level and always called down for our car so they knew where to bill it to. I tip both on drop off and pick up. For me the convienience is worth the few extra bucks.

Yes we tip in both directions. The guy parking it is probably a different guy from the one bringing it back. Plus I want the guy parking it to be careful LOL!.

Just so you know, valets pool their tips and pay out per shift. So all the tips that are collected during a shift are divided up amongst the valets that worked that shift.

Just curious--not arguing! Is this a WDW thing? At all valet parking?

I know it is not that way where I live; I've had college kids work for me that made some good money valet parking because they were distance runners--they got in their distance by running to fetch cars and were fast enough to earn more tips than others who were not runners. I thought it was very clever!

We tip on both sides too and extra if it's raining.

The fee is charged to your room daily. Some folks tip both ways, some tip only when picking the car up.

Tipping the guy at the Beach Club doesn't get you out of tipping at the GF, just like tipping your breakfast waitress doesn't get you out of tipping the one who served your dinner.

Between valet guys, bellmen, housekeepers and waitresses, there are a lot of tips to give out...but you don't have to use their services. You can park your own car, haul your own bags, etc.

We just returned from our trip. We had a handicap placard due to DH's upcoming hip surgery, so valet parking was free at all of the resorts. That was a nice perk that we didn't find out about until we arrived at the Boardwalk.

Just thought I'd pass that tidbit on for those who could benefit from it. We didn't use it every time because we had a scooter to load & unload and didn't want to put the valet people out every time, but the service sure came in handy - especially when the rain was pouring down.

As the PPs said, you only have to pay once per day, but be sure to keep your receipt so you can show it at the next place.

Actually, you don't even have to do this. The same outside company provides valet parking at all the deluxe resorts. Thus, once you have paid for the day at one resort, they can look you up in their system for confirmation and won't charge you at the second resort. (Besides, if you are paying for valet parking via a daily room charge, you don't ever get a receipt which you could give the valet people at the second resort.)

If you're not staying at a Disney resort, you would pay when you picked up the car, and, as PP's stated..it's good for the entire day at all Disney resort valet locations. I only tip when picking up the car or if they're incredibly efficient and friendly when I drop it off :)

Perhaps, but I would still keep the receipt in case of a computer glitch. We paid for valet at GF (using cash), but when we got to the BW, they couldn't find any record of it in the system. We had the receipt so they honored it.

I have asked the valets many, many times if they split tips and the answer every time has been no.

All of them may have been telling me a lie, but I have asked at least a dozen times and gotten the same answer every time.

Interesting...out of curiosity, when did you ask? Last October (2011) at the GF all of the tips went into a locked box with a slit on top to put in the tips.

Let's just say I have "family ties" with someone that works at one of the deluxe resorts and is friends with many of the valets.
