Question on use year

Okay, I've been perusing this forum for the last week or so. DH and I are seriously considering purchasing towards year's end. We looked at BWV on our honeymoon in 1999 but just couldn't do it then (wished we had-- $65 a point w/some sort of special offer where they bought back your next year's points-- 150 pts. worked out to around $7,500!).

Well, we are looking now. We generally travel to WDW during the fall months--Sept. mainly. We'd like to travel anytime between Sept.-Jan. So what use year month should we be looking for? Sept.? Jan.? In between?

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

You are probably best off with a use year just prior to when you normally travel, so summer use year months would work.

Give some thought to buying a resale while you are looking.

Thanks JimC! We are definitely looking at a resale. My DH fell in love with BWV when we toured them so we would have to buy a resale. Which is okay by me since its quite a bit cheaper. When we first looked in DVC we didn't know anything about resales. But from this board, I've learned a lot!! Thanks again!

You are welcome. I used Pat Spell at the Timeshare Store to buy our contract at OKW. She was great!

August or Sept would likely work best for the scenario you quote but June would work pretty well also. Use year is far more important to some than others depending on their situation and the chances of late cancellations.

The only time we ever go is Sept to Jan. We luckily got a Sept use year when we bought way back in '92. We had no idea of the implications of use year when we bought, we just lucked out and got Sept.
