Question on transportation between off-site hotels and DVC

Planning our February '06 DVC trip. Because we're pretty much using all available points to take family with us, the 8-9 of us plan to stay somewhere offsite for the first (Saturday) night. A good plan considering we will do nothing but sleep that first evening, and it would run 300 points to add 2 extra BCV 2-bedroom units.

ANYWAY, here's my question: Any ideas on inexpensive/effective transportation from that first-night offsite hotel to the BCV, where we'll start the rest of our trip? We'll obviously have a bunch of luggage to mess with. We've used Tiffany Towncars in the past for our Airport-to-Disney transfer, but I don't know that it would be the best option for this type of transfer. All comments/suggestions appreciated!

Along the same lines, for those of you who use this "first night point saving strategy", any suggestions about clean, inexpensive non-DVC rooms (especially ones that might have a fridge so we can get groceries on the way in from the airport on Saturday)?

Thanks!

Have you considered staying at a value resort on WDW property the first night? That way, your luggage would be transferred for you the next morning and you could hop a bus to go check in at BCV. As far as groceries, many people here have mentioned wegoshop.com as a great way to buy and have your groceries delivered if you do not have a car with you.

cheapest way is to rent a car from alamo at the airport and turn it in at WDW.........go to hotwire.com and you can score one for 20-30 bucks.........nothing comes close.

If you can get a good rate on a DTD property, a cab ride will be about $15. Ask for a taxi van - that will handle six or more of you, plus luggage. The further away you are, the more of your savings are going to get eaten up in transportation.

Another option would be to rent a car for 24 hours. Use it to get from the airport to your hotel, pick up groceries the next morning on your way to the BC, and drop it off at the Dolphin.

We also find most of our "refrigeratables" are available at the on-site stores. Its a little more expensive, but we find the extra $10 by the time we are done well worth not having to make a grocery stop. We are only refridgerating milk, eggs and half and half.
