Question on ticket upgrades

I'm an AP holder and I have a 1-Day Park Hopper just lying around that expires in January of 2013. A friend of mine was planning on going to Disneyland with me this summer and I was wondering if the 1-Day could be upgraded at the ticket booth. Like, she'd pay the three day price-1 day price?
Or would she have to buy a 2 day hopper and use this one separately?
If you could help me out, I'd appreciate it!

Yes you can upgrade the 1 day to a 3 day ticket. You upgrade from the value of the 1day, which may be printed on the ticket, or you may know what you paid, or if it's a comp ticket, $0.

It's a ticket I got because we were going to disneyland one day and doing a workshop too, for choir. But I have an AP so I didn't use it.
It's not a comp ticket I don't think, because I had one of those once and it didn't look like that!

Not to hijack, but I have a supplementary question to ask for myself related to this. If you have several 1 day tickets, you can combine them all for the value to upgrade, right? For example, I have 3x 1-day, 1-park tickets and would like a 5-day hopper. If the old value for those tickets was $80 each, all 3 can be used together for $240 towards a $290 5-day hopper?

Your ticket will have a value assigned to it, it may not be printed on the ticket but when the ticket is scanned at the ticket booth the value will come up in their system. You will be asked to pay the difference in the current gate price of the ticket you want and the ticket you are upgrading.
