I am wondering if the refillable mugs are good all over the resort or just the area you bought it in? I have 2 caribean beach mugs that I purchased at a garage sale. Will i be able to use these at the different disney hotels and theme parks?:confused3

You are only supposed to use the mugs you buy at your resort for the duration of your vacation. The deal is X dollars for the mug and free refills.

The official mug rules are that you can only use the mugs during the stay in which you purchased them. The designs now are not the same as they ones you have, so it will be pretty obvious that you didn't buy yours at the resort.

That being said, once you do buy mugs, you can use them at ANY resorts not just the one where you are staying--that was not always the case, but is now.
You CANNOT use them in the parks. (Of course, there really aren't any self-serve beverage stations in the parks-maybe 1, so really a non-issue.0

Im not sure if you can use them at the parks. You can use them at any Disney resort, although some people will say technically it should only be the resort it was bought at. The CMs don't care though, so fill them up wherever you like:goodvibes

Technically they should only be used during that vacation, and even you have older mugs, no one is going to care. I see people with mugs from years ago all the time. They fill them up right in front of the CMs, who don't say a word. I'd say bring them:thumbsup2

My understanding is that refillable mugs are only for use at the resort from which they are purchased, for the duration of the vacation during which they are purchased.

Here's something from an actual Disney resort description web page:
Purchase a refillable mug at the Food Court and enjoy unlimited hot and cold beverages from the beverage islands at Disney's Pop Century Resort throughout your stay.
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/resorts/resortLanding?id=PopCenturyResortLandingPage
(Note that these Tips and Fun Facts change regularly so you may need to hit the page a few dozen time... barring that, use Google search and you can find a cached version of the text I've quote.)

I've also found cached versions of other resort pages saying pretty much the same thing.

So unless the folks at Pop Century and Port Orleans are the only ones not allowed to "mug hop" :) I am pretty confident my memory of the policy is the correct one.

Sorry. :(

Again...according to "the rules."
Indeed, but this is the DISboards and advocating going around the rules is not really acceptable here. http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=18030400&postcount=12

Not to add any fuel to this fire.. I know the OP was asking about these older yard sale mugs... BUT...

The most recent version of the mugs says something like "Enjoy free refills at our resort beverage islands for the duration of your stay" - this is a change in wording from the old 'resort specific mugs' .. which read said more or less the same but ended in .. " at the resort where purchased for the length of stay."

Basically.. the way I read the current mugs ... if you happen to find yourself thirsty at another resort with the mug in your hand (why? ;)) I think you'd be just fine to refill a 'new mug' at any resort.

But.. hey - I'm not the final word on this... Disney is .. ask when you check in.

Yes you are correct--they used to say, "at the resort in which you purchased it" In addition to signage being changed, resort specific designs being eliminated and numerous reports.

I am pretty confident my memory of the policy is the correct one.

OK. I'm not going to argue with you. The new policy has been discussed and reported numerous times on these boards recently. (It's specifically a concern of those doing split stays at the resorts on the same trip.) You rely on "your memory" and I'll rely on my information and we'll both be happy and right in our own minds.

But.. hey - I'm not the final word on this... Disney is .. ask when you check in.
Always sage advice. :thumbsup2 Never rely on anything you don't get in writing from Disney in advance -- always ask when you arrive.

I wanna agree too! :)

Yay - a happy ending!

That sounds correct. Also based on what others have posted on here the Year of a Million Dream mugs could not be used at the dining locations at Coronado Springs Resort, because their dining locations are not owned by WDW. So because of that they are the only Resort which still sells their Resort logo mug. Now I have no idea if that's true because I am just saying what others have said, so I guess you can always ask and see what the Cast Member says.

We just got back on the 15th of April and when I purchased our mugs, the CM said they could be used at any of the resorts, just not the parks. Hope this helps !!!

With the change in style of the mugs(not as big as before), I didn't think I would see many people with the old ones, but you are correct. I saw people using them every day and they didn't seem to care that it was obvious that they were using "old" mugs. To each their own I guess.:confused3

I've seen people using very worn-out mugs indeed --they must have had them for years and years and years... We always buy fresh ones each trip and only use them at our resort.
