So my family really loves mini golf. However, we are also really competitive.

So which course would you recommend for older kids (17,14 and 14)?

I am wondering which of the two new courses would everyone recommend at universal.

They are both very good with lots of special effects. None of the holes were easy or boring. We played both one night and enjoyed both. I would recommend playing at night if you can due to all the special lighting!

Anyone know how much the mini golf costs? Any discounts for kids?
Hollywood Drive-In Golf is open daily from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. Admission rates to play one course are $13.99 plus tax for adults and $11.99 plus tax for children (ages 3 to 9). Universal Passholders are offered a discount. They also offer a special price for both courses.

And the mini-golf courses are right at City Walk? We'll be able to walk there if staying at the HRH?

We bought tickets for both courses at the same time to take advantage of the discount (also AP holders), then took a break on City Walk between games. They just wrote us out a raincheck to come back with no problem.

We used the AP discount but it was still over 50 dollars for our family of four (2 adults, one teen, one child). It's a good course but it did feel a little steep to pay 50 dollars for minigolf. I am sure others will disagree but I'd rather spend the money somewhere else. Just our opinion.
Might not have helped that our mini golf experience coincided with the exact hour that everyone was tired and hot and had the dreaded family vacation meltdown. We can laugh about it now, but man that was a cranky evening. I might have a different opinion if it hadn't been such a dreadful experience.:rolleyes1

The cool thing about both courses is that they are completely and totally different, right down to the music. For my birthday my wife decided to get me completely obliterated at Pat O Brien's and after about 4 hurricanes, and two drinks from Fat Tuesdays she decided I was ready for the Horror side of minigolf. The down side was that it's right next to the valet parking, so in my drunken state I was slicing balls pretty hard at the people waiting, and apparently out onto Universal blvd. I don't remember much except for the aftermath....it was a good birthday.
Now before everyone goes "OMG ITS SO TERRIBLE! DRINKING! NOOO!" It was about 11:30 on a Saturday night, and naturally the spill over from Citywalk can play mini golf.
It's an amazing fun course, though a bit on the pricey side. Still, the final hole on both courses are amazing.

We just got back on Saturday, and we played both courses (on diff. nights, not the same day). Like a PP said, the courses are totally different, right down to the music. Lots of fun, and challenging, too! We played right after dinner, around 7-8pm, so they weren't very crowded.

On many holes, we had to walk around just to see where the hole was. And the 18th hole on each is a doozy! Yes, $13.99 per person is a bit steep, but so is everything in Orlando. Don't forget you can get a 10% discount if you show your AAA card.

Once I get my photos off my camera, I'll come back and post some.
