Question on temps in Sept ?

Hello,
If I'm not a new poster, it's been years since I posted.
Anyway we had a trip planned all out for this coming May, but due to work reasons I had to cancel it, crushing not only the kids, but even more so myself.

I just today booked my family for a shorter trip, 4 nights at the Boardwalk and I'm going to surprise them with the news this weekend. It's the 2nd time I will be taking my family. We went 3 years ago when we where 4, now we are older/wiser and 5 total.

Anyway, none of this had anything to do with my question, But HAD to tell someone before I exploded

We are going mid Sept.... I know it will be hot, but how hot. 90's or 80's... 10 degrees makes a big difference. Of course it could be hotter or colder, I'm just asking generally what it's like.

We went for Thanksgiving last time. I thought it was a little too cold for swimming.

We have been three times in mid- to late-September. Each time it was in the upper eighties to low nineties, with all of the Florida humidity to make it feel hotter. On two trips, we had no rain to speak of. On one trip, it stormed almost every afternoon (downpours). It is great for swimming - it will be HOT! Low crowds though, so one of our favorite times to go!

We love going in September. I think the time we went in June was the hottest. And yes, it does rain alot in Sept. but usually only in the afternoon.

The great thing about Sept. is that it'll definitely be good weather to go swimming and go to the water parks.

Yes, it's defintely hot! We usually go in mid-late September. It's upper 80s to low 90s. We've gone in late May too and the September weather is more humid. But very tolerable from a heat wimp like me.

One thing to look out for is lovebugs. They seem to come out around then and it can be horrible! They're harmless bugs, but they just fly everywhere.

If you have kids in a stroller, a bug net is a must!

We love Sept. too and each time we have gone it is hot and humid, but we like it because then we can swim and enjoy the water parks. We think it's the PERFECT time to go, and this past Sept. we even caught MNSSHP! So fun, can't wait until fall '08 to go again since we are doing DL this year.

It is HOT, but the short lines make up to it, since you will spend a lot less time standing in the hot weather waiting for an attraction.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the love bugs. They were really bad last Sept. (we were there from the 9th to 19th). This was our first time really experiencing them, and we've been 4 times in Sept.

Also, for the first time ever, we got bitten by some other nasty, little, bugs. First off, we were bitten while visiting Merrit Island (and they hurt!) but then when we went to AK the next day, we were bitten again. We found out that we could buy OFF at one of the stores (and did) and we also stopped by the First Aid and got some Anti-biotic gel to put on our bites (worked great!). We also got some of the gel at Blizzard Beach where I also found out that they will give you small plastic vials of contact lense drops. Nice to know that (even after having gone 11 times now, I also learn something new about WDW on each trip )

First, we got to the parks at opening. Well, I should say, we hit MK every morning for the EMH (they had regular EMH mornings, and the Little Ones Magic Hour the other mornings). We were staying at the CR, so it was a quick, easy trip.

We stayed at MK until around lunch time. In the mornings, the weather was fine, not too hot. But by lunch time, it started getting just way too hot, plus the crowds started coming in. So, we ate lunch at MK, then headed back to the CR for swimming & showers.

By around 5pm, we headed to another park. The weather wasn't too hot by 5pm (I would say around 4:30pm is when it's "safe" to go back out...lol). Then, by the time the sun set, the weather was just beautiful.

It only rained one day on our trip. It was our first day there, and it poured ALL DAY. We made the best of it and stayed at MK until it closed. We put a plastic poncho over the stroller, and I wore one. So, the baby and I stayed dry, but the rest of the family wouldn't wear one (ponchos aren't cool, I guess), so they got soaked.

We went to WDW in Dec 2005 and it rained (poured) one day, and it was cold out. So, not only were we cold, we were WET and COLD. Our jeans, shoes, and socks were soaked. At least in September when it was raining, we had on sandals and shorts, and we weren't freezing.

I used to say that I'd rather be cold at WDW then hot, but I've changed my tune. When it's hot, at least you can go into an air conditioned ride or building. You can go back to your hotel and swim, then come back to the parks in the evening when it's cooler. It's not too fun when you have to wear gloves, hats, and winter coats at WDW just to stay warm.

I agree! Let me just add some of my own things. We went Sept 12-22,2005 it rained the last day and the day before just a down pour then gone. They say that is unusual. I guess it was because we happened to get there right after a big hurricane had come through and the locals say the best weather is after the storms! And we did come in right after the storm I was worried we wasn't going to be able to fly in. I think it ended the day before we flew out. The temp. was minimum of 90 everyday. The usual was 90 to 95. It did hit 100 sometimes. I am from Maine and I like nice 70 to 80 weather w/no humidity. This was my take: It was humid and hot, but you were in and out of rides. Most times you walked on or had a 5 min wait. If the sign said 20 min. you came back because it just meant that a crowd went all at the same time. Take advantage of EMH in the morning-they are not as popular as pm EMH. Also you go early and enjoy. It starts getting hot around 11:30 and then when it feels even hotter it is 12:00. We had read to eat around 11:00 11:30 to avoid lunch lines and then go back to the hotel to enjoy, get out of the heat and to rest. It made all the differance in the world!! We ventured back out at around 4 pm. It was very nice then. With the rest you can then enjoy the evening without being worn out and you avoided the hottest part of the day and you utilized the money you paid for those nice resorts!(we put little ones in for naps and enjoyed the pool) I personally think that it starts getting better after 2:30 pm by 3:00 it feels not bad. But think about how tired you get if you are out between 12:00 and 2:30 the hottest part of the day!!! Everybody is happier when they are rested and relaxing. I was shocked that the parks overstimulated me the visual person. So a rest was refreshing and relaxing. Have fun! My husband wouldn't go any other time for his pick. He loves the no lines and the hot weather!(and the free food!!
