Question on Southwest for June 15-16,2012?

I was checking airfares for our trip next year, June 8-16. I noticed on the Southwest site that most all airfares through the year are $133 but on our return flight on June 16 the fare is $243. I checked other Saturday's in June and the fare is $133. Does anyone know why the fare is higher on this one date? Also, do anyone think this will change after the first of the year? Thanks.

What city are you flying from? Perhaps the more expensive return was a direct flight...or are you saying every single option costs more on that particular day? Maybe that flight has been sold a bit already.

People have reported that Southwest fares have been known to go down sometimes.

The only thing I can think of is that it's Father's Day weekend. We're flying to MCO on the 15th, so I just checked and the flights that Saturday would average $50/ticket more... so it's not just your city.

No idea if Southwest will have a sale, but my guess is that with it being the middle of June and prime vacation season... probably not. Could you add a night to your trip and fly back Sunday the 17th? Not sure if that would save you any money, but if the price is going to be the same for the higher flight or adding a night, I'd add the night.

Most likely more seats have been sold on that flight. As the plane fills up, the price goes up.

Thanks for replying. I didn't realize that was Father's day weekend. Every flight that Southwest has out of Orlando to Jackson that day is $243. I may give it time after the first of the year and see if it goes down, if not I may stay another night. It's a hundred dollars less to fly home the next day.
