I had a question about Soarin'. I know it was added for the "Happiest Celebration on Earth". However, what happens when that is over? I wouldn't imagine a ride that popular woud go away. Is it going to remain open? If so, is it going to remain as a flight over California or will they change it to have a Florida theme? Just curious.... :confused3

It won't be going away anytime soon. In fact, there have been rumors of adding 2 more theaters to accomodate the crowds since this is a slow-loading attraction even during the off-season.

Plans are to replace the movie with a new one but not even the people I know who are part of the "in crowd" know for sure.

Soarin' is now a permanent attraction at WDW. It will not close after the Happiest Celebration on Earth is over.

As for a new movie, I am sure it will eventually be done, so it is a more WDW/Florida-friendly video as opposed to DL/California theme.

From what I've heard though, not even the inital steps have been taken to make this change. They usually leave a new attraction alone for a few years to give most people the chance to experience it. Another reason the change is not going to happen for a while is that a new movie for Star Tours is currently in the works

Hello Danno,

I agree with the other posters, this ride isn't going anywhere. It's a fantastic attraction and is way to popular (not to mention costly) to just scrap. I have heard from multiple sources (internet sites and CM's) that they will eventually change the movie to an "East coast/Florida" version of Soarin' in a few years.

Star Tours is getting a makeover (finally - love that one!) and more than likely after that Soarin' over Florida will start production.

Take care! :goodvibes

Well this is definately good to hear. We didn't get a chance to experience the new ride and were hoping we would be able to. The discussion came up between my DW and I about what would happen after the celebration. We figured they wouldn't close something down that was so popular and took so much to put together. However, neither one of us was sure, so I told her I would ask the knowledgeable on the boards and surely someone would have an answer. And what do you know.... Thanks everyone.

Part of the promotion is that each of the parks would get a new feature attraction:
Cinderellabration at Magic Kingdom,
Soarin' at Epcot,
Lights, Motors, Action at MGM,
Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom (a little bit late but worth waiting for)

Cinderellabration is the only one that is non-permanent. The others were always intended to be permanent.

Soarin was a gift from DL so that is why they have the same movie. There have been rumors of a different movie. It doesn't bother me at all that the movie shows California.
