I am thinking of going there for a vacation, whats it like, any feedback whether you lived there or just vacationed there would help. TIA

I'm sure you'll get lots of answers from other folks who stayed there. I drove through it once. It was the most beautiful place I've ever seen. Absolutely stunning scenery. Have a wonderful vacation.

We spent to last two nights of our fantastic summer vacation in Sedona (Las Vegas, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, Sedona). It was DH, me, and DSs 15 and 16.
We really enjoyed exploring to town, ate at the Cowboy Club, a neat little Mexican place, did a Pink Jeep tour and went to Slide Rock state park. I think two days were just right for us, especially since we have been gone from home for the last 12 or so! We stayed about 5 minutes from town at a Raddison. It was okay, not great but not bad. I would certainly go back again. It is very artsy and eclectic. You really need to take some time to stop and enjoy all the artwork that is found everywhere throughout the town.

PM me if you would like any details.

My SIL's parents live in Sedona, and I visited them for a week (stayed in their home, so I can't help with accommodations). It's a gorgeous place, that's for sure. Beautiful scenery, and lots of things to do. We visited Jerome (old mining town), went hiking to Chicken Point, saw the Montezuma Castle National Monument, visited Tlaquepaque (good shopping), ate at the Red Planet Diner, and spent a day at the Grand Canyon.

Sedona is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Pictures dont do it justice. The Chapel of the Holy Cross is my favorite place. We also went to the Grand Canyon when we were there. Anothe awesome place to see. Go and enjoy.

Sedona is one of my favoritest places in the world.   I've gone there about 7-8 times. I've traveled cross-county twice making sure I pass through there. I know I'll go back again someday. If I wasn't so attached to NY, I'd seriously consider moving there to retire.

I usually make the curcuit from the Grand Canyon, to Flagstaff, down route 89A, which is rated a Top 5 Scenic Drive in America by Rand McNally, down to Sedona.

There are ONLY two ways into Sedona, one is Highway 17, which may get you there faster, but you'll miss all the beautiful scenery, along route 89A, with it's incredible view of rocks, buttes, canyons, rivers and streams. Stop at Grasshopper State Park, for the gurgling brook & peacefulness. About 3 miles right before you get into Sedona, there is a wonderful bridge. Stop & park in the lot, just south of the bridge, on the right. The view of the river gorge is incredible.

After a day at Sedona, I drive back to Flagstaff & stay overnite there as the hotel rates are MUCH cheaper & there is more to do. It is a decent size city. Then the next day, I drive up to Monument Valley (about 1 1/2 hrs away,) for the day. Also one of my other favorite places in the world.

If you believe in God or a Higher Power, in Monument Valley, there is called the Valley of the Gods. There you can see the "mud monuments" called buttes that God created. Then he set down his mud "Mittens" (actually called that) in the valley when he was done. :flower:

THank you everyone for your help. I can't wait to go, ya it isn't Disney but I know in my heart this year this is going to be a vacation that will fit my lifestyle this year :earsgirl:

My DH and I are renewing our vows in Sedona this April. We did a one day trip in March 2003 and the minute we turned off the highway and saw the Red Rocks my DH said "this is it...I want to retire here." It is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. :sunny:

We are staying at the Hilton Sedona but I do not know much about it. We are hoping it is really nice.

I hope you love it as much as we do. :cloud9:

We rented a home there in 2003 and loved it. We enjoyed Slide Rock Park to cool off at, Red Rock State Park for hiking, driving to the Grand Canyon, shopping in the middle of town, Oak Creek Canyon, the Cowboy Show, The Church on the Rock and more.

I think you will enjoy it! There are plenty of places to take a 'drop in' yoga class, have a healing massage, pyschic fairs all the time.
