Question on resort Oct/Nov

Hi Everyone,

I am planning a trip the last week of Oct into November and need some advice.
I have been to Disney many times and bought into DVC 2 years ago. For our first trip we stayed at SSR (first week it officially opened). Now, this year we are bringing my in-laws (by the way we have no kids coming on the trip). So, I'm trying to decide what place to book. I highly doubt I will have a problem booking during that week since it is not peak season by any means. It is the food and wine festival and halloween so that may cause problems on the weekend, right?
Now we will need 2 rooms, I would like them beside each other, but that is not a requirement. Now, they have never stayed on Disney property, so I would like to show them a good time. I am just so confused where to stay. I like SSR because it is near DD, but I hear that beach club and boardwalk are nice too. Then I would love to stay at WL. So, I just can't choose.

Can someone please help me make a decision? There will be 4 adults and Epcot will definitely be a park we visit multiple times for dinner and such. So please give me your feedback.

Thanks!

Deanna

You are right to think that Halloween and F&W festival will make it hard to get into the Epcot resorts. There were times last October that DVC was sold out. The fact that you'll be into November, should be in your favor.

You will be going to Epcot, so, 7 months out I'd try either for BWV or BCV.

We're relatively new and so far only went once with multiple rooms, and it was requested that the rooms be near each other. We were on the same wing and floor at BWV and it was fine. So just request that the rooms be near each other.

I agree with bobbiwoz, it sounds like either BCV or BWV will be the right choice since you mentioned you will spend a lot of time at Epcot. You can request rooms next to each other, but they won't guarantee that, and as Bobbiwoz said it's really not bad as long as you are close to one another.

I don't know what shape the older folks are in, but it's just a 5 minute easy walk to Epcot from BCV or BWV, so convenient. If they don't like to walk there is always the option of the boat

I am not so sure this is going to be as easy as you think, F&W affects more than just the weekends when it comes to DVC. I don't doubt you will find something if you book soon, but a standard view 1BR at BWV might not be so easy at this point. You never know, you might get lucky, but I wouldn't wait too much longer to book this trip. Since your first DVC trip was there I am assuming you own at SSR, try to call MS at the 7 month window to book BCV or BWV. If you bought a resale and own at BCV or BWV I'd call now.

Good luck, let us know what you decide and how it worked out. :sunny: :smooth:

Where is your home resort? That might determine where you stay at this time of year, depending on the 7 vs 11 month windows. We bought into DVC at SSR, and went last Sept. for our first visit "home". My parents were with us for the first two nights to celebrate their 80th birthdays, and we stayed in a 2BR dedicated at SSR. It was beautiful and they were quite impressed! We had a great view of DTD. However, we didn't do the parks while they were with us (they're Floridians and have gone LOTS of times). After they left, we moved over to BWV because we like the Epcot area so much.
They enjoyed it so much that we're doing the same thing again this year, but we're planning to stay entirely at SSR this time since it will be in October. I'd suggest a 2BR unless you like complete privacy. It's definitely much more impressive than a studio.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I will take your advice and try BCV and BWV as my first choices. Anyone in particular over the other??

Oh and my home resort is SSR, so you guys are right, with the 7 month window I might not get it. Oh well, if not I will just have my list of resorts in order of choice.
So:

1)BWV
2)BCV
3)WL
4)SSR

Does that look like a good order to you guys?

Oh and my in-laws are young. They are just 55. So walking shouldn't be an issue....
Yeah, my hubby and I are only 28 and 29. So, yes we are a little spoiled by having no kids and money to spend. Vacations are a must for us and we use all 3 weeks on major vacations! So DVC just looked like a no brainer!

The only other suggestion I have (which you may have already thought of) is to reserve something at SSR now and then switch to BWV or BCV at the 7 month window if available. This way you won't get stuck with nothing in the (admittedly unlikely) event that there is nothing available at SSR 7 months out. Chances are you'll be fine, but I am a nervous nellie so if it was me that's what I would do. :earsgirl: :D

Good idea. Book SSR first and then change it....hmmm, never thought of that. Ok I tihnk I will do that. Thanks for the advice!! :Pinkbounc

I agree with idratherbeinwdw, book SSR now (you are within the 11 month window). Then, exactly at 7 months call to change it. Good Luck! :)
