Question on renting a locker

Hey all, on our upcoming trip we plan to go to DLR with our luggage on the last day, store it in a locker, and leave straight from there instead of going back to the hotel to retrieve it. From my understanding, there are lockers right outside the main entrance. But will I even be able to get through the security checkpoint, given that these are duffel bags and suitcases? We don't have bags and bags of things, but I'm afraid they'll be too cumbersome to check and we won't be able to get them to the lockers in the first place.

I remember reading that someone got suitcases through bag check, but I don't remember if it went smoothly or if there were some issues.

What is your transportation? The taxis now depart from Downtown Disney (by ESPN Zone, I believe). So if you're staying in a hotel on Harbor and were planning to just take your suitcases toward the trams and get in a taxi, I'm not sure it would be any faster than just leaving your bags at the hotel? I don't know where other transportation picks up from, but I thought I'd mention that just in case.

If you are going through the Harbor side entrance, you'll have to either get there VERY early before security sets up and you can just walk through...or you'll have to get it checked by the bag check people.

IF you're coming from the DTD side, you're in luck! (or if you come in Harbor before bagcheck gets there and can just walk through) Head far off to the left of the bag check area, still in the DTD area. There's a picnic area hidden back there; you can see it on the map of Disneyland almost the bottommost thing on the left (further down is the tram), and you can see that the entrance is just outside of the Esplanade.

They also have the biggest lockers...I got a Jumbo size and it was FAR too big for my bags, and that wasn't even the biggest size they have!

Of course, if you're leaving from the Harbor side, again, you'll have to get the bags through the DTD-side security to then exit the Harbor side.

Depending on where you're coming from, when you are arriving, and where you are leaving from...it might just be easiest to leave them at the hotel's bell services/bag room/whatever your hotel calls it.

Thanks for the replies! Bumbershoot, you're saying that there are lockers outside the security checkpoints from the DTD side? Also, how much is that jumbo size locker?

I think the biggest locker was something like $15 for the day.

And yep, they are outside security, on the DTD side. When is your trip? Do you need a park map really quick? If you want a map, I still have a few from past trips, and can send you a DL (and DCA) map so you can see it. I'll put a sticky note to point it out. PM me if you want me to send you a map.

I came up from San Diego for a not-even-full-day trip at DLR once, was dropped off by a cab at DLH (I was kind of hoping that I could use their bell services even though I wasn't staying there, b/c I was going to be picked up there by Disneyland Express), denied the use of Bell Services, then walked through DTD. The picnic area is off to the left, almost like you're walking in front of the tram (OK you are doing just that, but the tram doesn't go further forward that way). Concrete picnic benches and benches, surrounded by those tall skinny "wind break" trees I think of when I think of Tuscany...and a locker area. I was able to park my stuff (suitcase and carry on) in the locker, play all day, then snag them later and rush across to the DLH to catch my bus!
