My ex wife and I purchased 2 DVC contracts back in 2006-2007.
We got divorced in 2010 and had to sell both contracts.
I'm looking into buying back into DVC,
Am I still considered a new owner or do I get some kind of incentive for being a previous owner?

You will be considered a new owner. That means that if you buy direct, you will need to buy at least 150 points and won't qualify for current member pricing.

Thanks. I have been doing research and saw where people bought small Resell contracts then bought a direct DVC for the perks.
Is that correct and if so does it have to be 150 points?

At this time, you need 150 points direct from DVC to qualify for membership extras. If you buy a resale contract first, you can add on points less than that amount, and get member pricing, but you would still not get the blue card benefits. You could work your way up to 150, though, over time to qualify, assuming that DVD doesn't raise the minimum before you get there.

Also, resale points are restricted from staying at RIV and any future resorts, in addition to being ineligible for qualifying for membership extras. If you buy RIV resale, those can only be used at RIV...no trading out.

If you get some direct points, after buying resale, those can be used at all resorts, but until you reach 150, you won't get the blue card benefits. The big plus to doing resale first...assuming you don't care those points can't be used everywhere...is that you can add on in smaller amounts direct.

If you buy as a new member direct first, they will require you to start at 150...but at least you are immediately eligible for the membership extras.
