I am still trying to find a good rate for our trip next Oct 2014. We plan on staying at the HRH for 6 nights and wondering about AAA or the APH and which is better. if I decide to go with the AP when can I buy the AP for next year since they usually have use by Dec 31st . Also do we all have to buy annual passes or can just one person in the party have one and use that? One more question can you combine the APH and AAA rates to get less off ?

First, you can only apply one discount. What most of us do is use the discount code APH to see if any AP rates are available. If you don't see any, then they are not available. You do not need the actual AP until you check in. And, the APs are good 1 year from date of activation, so since I bought mine last August, it expires this August. Cheaper to renew.

Best way to get the AP room discount is for one in your party to have it, and be the one reserving the room. I even showed my online purchase receipt for the AP, and they never did ask the rest of my trip. I activated the day I checked in, but had bought it a few weeks before our trip.

The AP rate usually doesn't come out until some time before you want to use it. Best to keep checking though, as sometimes the AP rooms come and go, as there is a limited number of rooms with that discount. The best thing to do is use whatever discount you have, then if you see a better rate, call the hotel and change. I found both the RPH and PBH to be very nice in changing rates for my reservations. The past few years, there's been a stay more, save more rate. The discount for more than 3 nights is a decent discount. It may be available next year too, so always check the hotels for any discounts.

Love October, as its HHN, a great scary adult separate party that so far, has been almost always in the Studios.

you'll need to buy the preferred or premeire annual pass for the discounts.

the power pass does not offer discounts.

the AP expires one year and one day from the time it was first activated.

if you buy your ap june 29, 2013, it expires june 20, 2014.

only one adult in the family needs the ap for the discounts. (hotel, food, merch)

Thank you, I guess If I were to do the AP I will have to wait till the fall to buy one. I should be able to book now and use that later I hope ?

You can book whenever you want with rack rates. However, AP rates for October 2014 probably won't be out until summer 2014. You are very, very early to be finding any discounted rates.

Does the annual pass include parking at the hotels, or just at the park lot? I'm looking at our various options right now, and trying to weigh the benefits.

Just the parking lot, not the hotels.

Thanks. My head is spinning trying to plan our trip. My original plan was to stay one night on site and do two days at Universal, then move over to a Disney value resort, but my daughter mainly just wants to do Downtown Disney and Disney Quest, so that's seeming pointless. With the sale on longer Universal resort stays, I'm rethinking things and thinking perhaps doing 4 nights on site and do the parks for 3 or 4 days, but at a much more leisurely pace, then staying closer to Downtown Disney our last night in town. I'm about to pull my hair out!
