Question on park reentry

We are travelling with parents this month down to WDW. They talked about leaving around noon and going back to the hotel for a few hours. If you don't have park hopper option you can still go back to the same park in the same day correct?

Yes, that's correct. You just need your park ticket to get back in.

They used to use a hand stamp for same day re-entry, but now with the finger scan at all the turnstiles your ticket is all you need.
