I noticed a thread on this board last week where several people mentioned packing for their flights using Ziplock baggies to separate and store their outfits for each day. I think this is a great idea, but I have one question. Now....don't laugh! :p Do your clothes smell like Ziplock bags when you take them out? Seriously, quit laughing! :p I HATE the smell of baggies and rarely use them because of it. I love the idea of having everything stored in baggies to eliminate some travling struggles with new airport security regulations, but if my clothes will smell like plastic baggies...forget it.

How about if I put a dryer sheet in each bag with my clothes? Think that would stop the smell?

TIA for any thougts. ;)

I never noticed that the bags leave an odor, but then again, I've never noticed that they have an odor! Maybe it depends on the brand? In any case, a whole dryer sheet might be over kill, but what if you cut them into strips?

Good idea, mcnuss! I thought a dryer sheet might be too much, so I'll cut them up and put maybe a quarter of one in there.

Thanks!! ;)

Do you really REALLY like the smell of your dryer sheets? I'm asking because if you don't love it like crazy... you might not want to do that. LOL I have gotten clothes in ziplocks with just a tiny piece of dryer sheets in each when buying clothes on ebay many times- from many different sellers- and it smells STRONGLY of the dryer sheets even after a wash/dry! The smell really seeps into the clothes way more than just using the dryer sheets when drying the clothes- yanno?

But if you love that smell and want everyone smelling that way the entire time- go for it.... that should definitely get rid of the ziplock baggie smell. LOL (I have packed for camping trips before with baggies and never noticed a baggy smell to the clothes- but it might be more noticable to you since you don't like that smell)

I thought I was the only person that noticed that plastic smell. I really noticed it when I opened a new box of sandwich size ones for my dd's lunch. Now I open all the boxes and let them breath, so to speak. I did the same with the extra large ones for our trip. It worked out fine.

Well, I packed last night and included one third of a dryer sheet in each bag. I thought I'd *sniff* a couple tonight to see if that's too much. (that sounds gross!) :p While I do like the smell of dryer sheets, I don't want to smell like I use "Eau De Boucne"!! :p

Eau de bounce! LOL

I always put my stuff in ziplocks and never noticed a scent. I think they're a petroleum based product, so they probably do have a chemical scent. What the heck are the dryer sheets made of? I always put one in my empty suitcases and that keeps them smelling nice.

Be careful with the dryer sheets against the clothes. I've had them leave a spot (like grease), when they laid in the dryer. Maybe that is if they have been through the dryer though.

LOL
Eau de bounce is exactly what I was thinking it might end up smelling like. LOL I hope not though... for you... since the smell of the bags is bad to you.
Now you gals have me wanting to go sniff the boxes of sandwich bags I have here also. LOL Must investigate this smell I have not noticed before.......

Why not just take the clothes out of the bags when you arrive? We usually empty the suitcases when we arrive, anyway. I like to hang up some things and put others in the drawers. Seems like the "bagged clothes" should have time to "air out" before you need to wear them if you do that.
