Question on hotel parking

2 years ago I stayed at the Hard Rock. when I made my reservations, the girl told me to just have my parking validated near the front entrance on check out, and I wouldn't have to pay for parking. I did that and I didn't have to pay for parking.

From what I've been reading on these boards, it seems that everyone is now paying for parking. Has anyone else been told to validate their parking at the window to receive free parking.

We had to pay at RPR when we visited a few weeks ago... maybe they changed their rules since you visited last?

I've only heard of the validating thing if you are just eating at the restaurants. They've always charged for parking for overnight guests as long as I can remember.

Just got back from HRH.
When you enter the parking lot, you take a ticket. Then when you check in, they ask if you drove. $6 per day is added to bill. Otherwise, you would show the guard the ticket and pay to get out. The day you check out is not added, because the bill is done at 2am and put under your door.
Your room key lets you exit and return to the parking lot. You show the guard your key, and they open the gate.
