question on gift certificates---help!!!

If you redeem from a rewards program a $25.00 gift certificate or webbie from a merchant shop, are you able to take that gift certificate or webbie and purchase something on that same rewards program. Then get points again when using the gift certificate or webbie on that same rewards program? Thank you, tucco

Most rewards programs will state in the FAQs that they will not award points or rebates on shipping & handling, taxes or for any portion of a purchase which is made using a coupon or a gift certificate. However, you would need to check the individual site's FAQs to see if they differ.

As fas as webbies are concerned, they are no different than a credit card payment or one made with a debit card. I've had no problem getting rewards points for any purchases I've made using my Webcertificate MasterCard.

I just wanted to add that it sort of depends on the reward, too. I've ordered things from LLBean through eBates, used LLBean coupons (earned using my LLBean Visa), and paid the balance with my LLBean Visa to get free shipping. EBates pays $2 per LLBean ORDER, not a %. More than once I've ordered something that came to about $5 after the coupons were taken off, and I got the $2 put into my eBates account.

Thank you both for helping me. so I would be better off to get a webbie & use that instead of a particular merchant gc. that way I will get credit with points. Correct?? Thanks Tucco

It depends on the merchant.

For instance, a $25 Barnes & Noble giftcard from Mypoints costs you 2750 points. A $25 Webbie from Mypoints costs you 3500 points. That's a difference of 750 points! Most likely you're not going to get that many points back from a $25 Barnes & Noble purchase made through Mypoints and paid for with a Webbie. But then again, you can only use the Barnes & Noble giftcard at the store, and not online, so this isn't a perfect example. But just something else to think about.

The main reason I've been cashing in for Webbies lately is so that I can take my plastic card and buy Disney Dollars at my local DS. I'm saving them for our next trip to WDW. I've gotten $100 from Mypoints alone.
