Question on DVC to DVC Rental

DH just told me that he doesn't want to go to WDW this year, but would be willing to do a cruise. In order to do a 7-day we'd need to rent some points off of another DVC member. I'm confused how this works. Would they just transfer the points to our account?

Yes...that's how it would work. However, cost-wise, in most cases you'd be better off renting your points out instead and using the cash to pay for the cruise. Make sure you look at it both ways.

Totally agree with calypso. I know renting points can be a hassle, but if you are willing to purchase transfer points to cruise, why not look at transferring your points to a member, so you can use the cash to cruise?

You can also pay with a combination of points and cash so be sure to look at that option also.

Thank you for the suggestion, and we can do a 7-day cruise with Princess by renting out just 180 points. That would also leave us with points for next year's trip. Less out of pocket expenses, points for trip next year, and a happy DH. You all are the best.
