I know this is probably not possible, but I wanted to make sure just in case. We are very close to buying DVC and so is my close friends family. We usually go to Disney together and we are a total of 9 people between two families. My question is....

Could be "combine" our vacation at a two bedroom villa or Grand Villa so we could save on the points usage?

For instance..... A 2BR Villa at VWL costs 279 pts for the week we usually go. So if we both stayed together at this 2BR villa could be not "combine" the points to save . 140 pts per family? This way we could stay more like 10 days.

Or could you Transfer your points from one DVC owner to another? In other words one year we transfer points to our friends and then the next years trip they transfer to us?

Thanks for the expert information! :worship::worship::worship::worship:

Hi,
Yes, if both of you buy in you could transfer points into one anothers accounts and the one who has the points in his/her account could book the ressie and you could all stay in a big villa together. You can only do one transfer per year though so plan accordingly. Good luck!

You should be able to each make reservations for a series of the days using your points and then link those reservations. One of you do Sun- Fri and another Sat-Mon or whatever- you will each need the points for a whole number of nights in this case.

I have done this in the past with DVC friends. I've done it both ways - transfer points into 1 account or each reserves certain nights and then link the reservations. Both worked fine.

Make sure you purchase at a resort that has GVs. Trying to get a GV at 7 months out is more difficult than at 11 months out.

Rather than doing a transfer (which an owner can only do once a year) try doing what we do with our daughter (who has her own points). We book part of the vacation with our points, and then the rest with her points and then MS links the two together so its seamless to the resort. As long as you're not particular about splitting the needed points exactly this is pretty easy to accomplish. Its easiest if you can both get on the phone with MS together. :teacher:

A GV is probably the most comfortable for nine. As Deb & Bill indicated not all resorts have GVs. Also if you are considering a two bedroom then make sure the resort you buy sleeps nine in a two bedroom. Not all do.

Everyone else has already explained that a transfer or combined reservation will work. I just wanted to make sure I say that you'd need to have the same home resort. Transferred points retain their own home resort and use year, so you can cannot transfer say OKW points to your account with say AKV and combine the points for a stay at 11 months. You'd have to wait to use OKW or AKV points until 7 months unless staying at their respective resorts. I hope that made sense.

If you do have different home resorts then one of you could book using two years' worth of points and then have the other book the next trip (you just alternate banking and borrowing between the two families). You could also do a split stay with one of you reserving half the trip at one resort and the other half at the other resort and try to be at the same resort at 7 months. Or, you could just have the same home resort. :thumbsup2 This keeps things simpler.

Good luck with your purchase! :goodvibes
