Question on canceling a reservation

If I reserve a room and decide that we can not go, can I bank those points if I cancel the reservation before the deadline to bank points, or will they going into holding and I will have to use them before the end of the UY?

I should know this (I know I've read it somewhere) or at least could look it up, but just thought I would put it out here because I know I can get the answer quick. Thanks a bunch!

As long as you cancel 31 or more days before date of arrival, you will get points back in state they were in when reservation was made and can bank them as long as they are current use year points and you are not past your banking deadline. If you cancel 30 days or less before arriival, they go into holding account and must be used by end of use year and you can make reservation only 60 days or less out from day of arrival.

Any points that were banked or borrowed to make your reservation will be put back into the use year of the planned vacation not their original use years. Example: I needed 300 points for my June 2011 vacation. I banked and used 100 points from my 2010 use year, I used 100 points from my 2011 use year (assume you have a Feb. use year and are already in your 2011 use year ), and borrowed 100 points from my 2012 use year. If you cancel your reservation 31 days or more prior to reservation dates, then all 300 points are put into your 2011 use year. The 100 borrowed and 100 banked points must be used by end of your use year (end of Jan. 2012 in this example). The 100 points from your current use year would still be available to bank. If you cancel 30 days or less, then all 300 points go into holding and must be used by end of your use year.
