My family is planning on paying cash (hopefully with a 25% discount) for a 2-bedroom at OKW for 12/26-1/1. When I called MS, they told me that rooms were not available for booking for those dates until 11 months out.

So....should I start calling on 1/26 and book night-by-night? Or do you think if I wait until 2/1 I will be able to book all nights for cash? Just curious what you all would do. :confused3

We would use points...but have already used all that would be available already!!

Have you calculated the cost to rent vs. the cost to pay cash? I may be cheaper to rent pts during the week, and then pay cash on the weekend. In recent years there hasn't been rooms available for the 25% discount, since most of the rooms were rented out at the 11 month window.

We haven't really calculated if we could save money renting. To be honest, we are not 100% comfortable sending a check to someone for a large amount of money, and then having that person be in control of our ressie. I know many, many people have had extremely positive experiences renting.....we are just a little leary.

We do know that we may not get the discount - we are currently booked for 2 rooms at the Contemporary. Even if we didn't get the discount, it would already be cheaper than that ressie. We are really just wanting the extra space a 2-bedroom would offer. :thumbsup2

Have you considered a point transfer (transfusion) in to your account? You would then be in TOTAL control.

364 points would be needed for a ressie at OKW in a 2-bedroom for 12/16-1/1. So, if I could get those points at $10/pp, it would cost $3,640. To book that room for cash (w/the discount), it would cost $3,828. So, I think we are going to attempt to get the discount room. If that doesn't work, we will try to transfer points - b/c without the discount, it would cost $5,100 - so if we could transfer points, it would save us a bit of $$. :thumbsup2
