Question on Banking Points?

Please transfer this if I'm on the wrong forum for this question.

I understand the calendar schedule for banking points. My use year is September, so to bank 100% of my points I need to decide by February. And then the number of bankable points declines after that date. Got that.

But let's assume that I make all the reservations I want for '07 and I have 9 points left over....do I get to bank those 9 points right away, or are you only allowed to do the percentages of 100%, 50%, etc.

I guess that's what I'm afraid of....so what happens to my little 9 leftover points? Do they just disappear and I have no way of saving them?

Your 9 points are not any large percentage of your total, so you can bank them at any time except the during the last 2 months of your contract. If I have left over points like that, I usually bank them at the same time I make my last reservation for that use year. For a September use year, you would have to bank them before August 31. The operative words you missed in the banking rules are "up to".

And if you have more points later, you can bank those as well with the maximum of the banking windows you noted. Just realize that the percentages are for the year. So if you had 100 points and banked 9 while in the 100% window, you could only bank an additional 41 points once the 50% window opens up.

I'm sure Diane meant JUNE 30. The August 31 date is the end of your use year, and as she correctly pointed out, you can't bank during the last two months.

Also keep in mind that the last real date you can bank would be the last working day for MS in June. In 2007, that date would be Friday, June 29.

What if I bank them all them decide to take a spur of the moment trip before April 07 (my use year)?

Will I be able to borrow those points?

You will not be able to borrow from your "banked" points, but you could borrow from your '07 UY allotment. Once points are banked, they stay banked and can only be used in the UY they were banked into.

You can't borrow THOSE points, but you can borrow the points you would normally be getting in April.
