Question of transportation while at Disney

We are driving down to Disney in July, I was wondering if it would be easier to drive our car to our ADR's at other resorts or just to rely on Disney transportation. I would hate to be late and end up missing our ADR

Thanks, I had read somewhere that there is a parking limit at other resorts. Is that true

We've never had a problem with Disney transportation. Being park people, I guarantee it is easier to head straight to an ADR directly from a park, than to return to your resort, walk to your car, then drive to your ADR. As for a morning ADR, it is also easier to take Disney transportation from that early ADR, to your park of the day, than to drive back to your resort, park, and take Disney transportation to parks. Just allow yourself approximately one hour, some say 1 1/2 depending on the ADR and time of year, before ADR for travel, most of the time we're early and use that time to tour the resort.
DISNEY TRANSPORTATION is our vote, never has let us down.

In many trips to WDW, we have never used our car. We do however plan ADRs in accordance to where we are going to be. For example, if we are staying at WL, I would not plan a meal where we would need to go from there to Animal Kingdom. We mostly go to ARD's from the parks. We also do a lot of meals on the monorail loop as they are very easy.

If it were me I'd bring a car, but we've already decided that on future trips we will be renting a car unless we stay in a deluxe anyways. You just never know how long disney transport will take ESPECIALLY if you are going early in the am. I imagine it might take a while to catch the bus to the resort for your ADR. In theory, you could wait 20 minutes at your resort for the bus, 10-20 minute ride (depending on which resort you are at and if they have other stops to make before going to the park, then you could wait up to an additional 20 minutes for the bus to the resort with your ADR and then drive time. So in theory it really could take almost an hour and a half. Will it? Maybe not but we were not there during busy season and it seemed we had bad luck with the buses (mainly us seemingly getting to the bus stops right after the bus to where we were headed just left).

To answer about the limited parking at other resorts - I am not really sure - one time we went to Poly for 7:30 a.m. ADR - took our car and were able to leave the car there all day. Another time we went to Chef Mickey's and had a 4 hour parking pass. Sadly, I haven't been back to WDW since 2009, so I am not sure what the correct answer is.

For getting to another resort for early morning ADR - We found that the buses were not running early enough to get us there in time for our ADR at other resorts. I have to say other than early mornings we have lost our car in parking lot of hotel because we use Disney transportation for everything else.

Good luck.

We are staying at Pop and have ADR's at chef Mickey, whispering canyon cafe, 1900 park fare and cape May cafe..luckily we have no early morning ones because my family isn't big on breakfast..thanks for the suggestions

Your family is opposite of mine - breakfast all the way and snack throughout the day - I would use Disney transportation since they are not early morning ADR's.

Have fun :cool1:

You are only supposed to park at a hotel for three hours. They often give a parking pass and have been known to have cars towed.

You could pay for valet and leave it all day.

Why would one drive to breakfast then back to the resort to board a bus? I would assume if they were driving to breakfast, they would simply take their car to the park from there.

For Chef Mickey's if that is your Magic Kingdom day it would be pretty simple to just take the Monorail from Magic Kingdom, can't speak for the other ones, the only resort meal we had was at the Contemporary and it was really simple to jump on the monorail, just make sure to take the right one. We got on the monorail to the Ticket Center instead of the Resort monorail! Luckily we had planned on looking around the Contemporary before our meal so we had plenty of time

Im going to have my car too. Should I drive to TTC or take the bus? We have an 8am adr

We always have our car. We will park our car at whatever park we are going to that day and then use transportation to the restaurant. Example: Magic Kingdom day with a Chef Mickey ADR. We would go to MK and then use the monorail to pop over to Chef Mickey and then back to MK.

That's a great idea, my travel agent said we get passes to park at the parks for free
