With three boys, I'm happy they snap the cap back down. And I'm happy they brush their teeth at all. When it gets down to the end, I do squeeze up from the bottom to get it all out.
I squeeze (that is a funny word...) from the middle. When we get close to the end, I squeeze it all up to the top and still squeeze from the middle! Believe me, I get every last drop of toothpaste out of the tube! That drives my DH crazy...
I squeeze from the bottom...and I have one of those plastic thingies from Mike's (paint dept) that you insert the bottom of the tube in and slide it up as the tube empties...I got one for DH's toothpaste too (he uses a different kind)... He is a born organized person, but squeezes from the middle Keeps me from going crazy looking at his tube
I squeeze from the middle.. DH squeezes from the bottom and rolls the tube as he goes... With the kids... I'm thrilled if they don't love the cap down the drain.. They will brush their teeth because I still go in to make sure.. with DD just getting finished her braces, I make sure they are all brushed.. pet peeve...
This is a constant battle at our bathroom sink. Every time I brush, I make the tube all neat -- using the edge of my toothbrush handle to flatten out the used bottom portion of the tube. Next time I go to brush, it's been smoosed from every direction.

I can't be bothered worrying about it! BUT I'm too cheap to throw away the tube with toothpaste still in it. So I "just squeeze" and then once it's at least half empty I periodically run the bottom over the edge of the sink to push it all to the top.
Fortunately we each have our own so it doesn't matter that DH can't stand the way I do it. LOL
