This is a question for anyone who has used DDP before. My mother actually called my from her ONE DAY in Disney (for Father's Day w/o kids haha) and asked to to sign on and ask this question.

We will be using the DDP for the first time in August, Mom & Dad decided to do a "test run" for the weekend.

My question is Is there a limit on the amount of $$ you can spend for each of your "credits" (table svc, counter svc & snack)? And, if so, what is that limit??

This was prompted by an incident at the Earl of Sandwich where even though they got things that were on the dining plan they were charged $3.78 and told that you are only allowed to spend $16 on a counter service meal?????

What the hell is that all about?? My sister used DDP a few years ago and NEVER had this problem!! Are they changing things around??

Can someone please fill me in!! THANK YOU!!!

for cs earl is one of the worst they limit you to 1 sandwitch,1cupcake or a cookie and a fountin soda.Unless your mom picked up somthing outher than these she would be charged
Paulh

CS allows you 1 entree, 1 drink and 1 dessert. I have never been limited to any $ amount but some restaurants have items that can't be ordered on the plan.

Earl of Sandwhich charges $5.75 per sandwhich or $5.95 for salad at last look, most expensive dessert is the dessert cup at $2.45 and a $1.75 for a soda. Even if they allowed a slushie you'd be well under $16. You must have had more items than allowed so the restriction was on items and not $'s.

That's the weird thing, my mother said she asked the woman at the counter specificly what she was supposed to get and she said that's what she got. Maybe it was a misunderstanding?

I think there was a misunderstanding. Earl of Sandwich actually has a sign up where you place your order explaining that DDP includes a sandwich or salad, cookie, and fountain drink. They don't let you get whatever drink or dessert you want, but the sandwiches are great.

I've seen these signs too. I'm pretty sure there is no dollar limit at EoS, but there are restrictions on what you can get. You can only get a fountain drink, and only the brownie or cookie for dessert...and they're pretty strict about both.

When I was there last month I had a CS left over, so ran by EOS on my last day to grab something for the airport. I was told I could have any sandwich (or salad), a cookie or muffin top, and a soda. I was tired of sweets and asked if I could have a bag of chips in place of dessert. They let me have them with no problem.

I have been going to disney world with my family (4) for the past 5years and have used the ddp, and never had any limits on the cost of a meal. Some conter service do limit there menu, so we do not go to there restaurant. A conter service incl. entree, drink, dessert. table service incl. app. entree, drink, dessert. snack incl. any item less than $5 usualy marked as snack.I hope this helps you.

I would say avoid EoS on your August trip, we will. It sounds like the CM was flippant with your mother. She should have told her exactly what she ordered that caused the extra charge, there is no excuse for that rude behavior. Even if the line was busy, you still owe your guest an honest response.

YOu know, that's why DH and I do NOT eat at EoS. We always feel as if we're in their way - like we're "tourists". It's always crowded. I always feel rushed. It $$ for a sandwich and a brownie. And sometimes I do feel like they are trying to rush things by you hoping you won't notice or you'll just say "whatever".

I felt the same way. We went one time and I swore I would never put my family through it again. It was the only CS where I felt that we were an inconvenience.

Last year when we were in Disney that was the ONLY place where we had any problems. They actually told us that their computers weren't working properly and they couldn't accept our plan. We just paid for our food then we took the receipt to the front desk at our hotel and they gave us back our money. They didn't even charge us for the meals for our troubles. They really gave us a hard time at EofS. We just won't go there again.

WOW,sorry everyone had a hard time there.I have not tried this place before but thought about it for our aug trip and after this board i wont. Thanks for the info!:thumbsup2

I may be considered a real **tch but if that happened to me and they didn't tell there would be a extra charge I would refuse to take the food.
If I paid for the DDP which I have and then they tried getting extra cash out of me, theres no way. I'd tell them to take whatever it was back and replace it with whats included.popcorn::

I'm sorry to read the OP had issues but we're hearing the story, at best, third hand. Actually the OP is talking about "an incident at EoS". The OP didn't indicate if she, or anyone in her family, witnessed the incident or if it's just an internet rumor.

EoS doesn't offer combos. Cash customers pay extra for chips as do DDP customers.

EoS limits guests to a fountain drink and limits desserts but the employees generally do a good job letting guests know.

Guests who want a bottle of soda, chips, side salad, soup or a better dessert have to pay out of pocket. Disney owned CS restaurants seem to interpert the rules to give guests as much as possible. Almost all Disney CS restaurants offer combos with fries and allow guests to order any dessert. EoS follows their rules.

1. OPs parents did not feel good about their EoS experience
2. Cashier/server was not able to explain why there was an upcharge
3. Parents were surprised that they passed the DDP limit, there should have been warnings, I run a similar type place and we tell guest about upcharges even though we love to sell them. Its an easy way to piss off a guest.
4. IMO EoS has not earned the right to more business from this family
5. Doesn't mean DIS readers shouldn't go to EoS, however if my mother was brushed off like this I wouldn't go back

EoS may provide a great experience for someone on a Disney vacation, but for this family IMO they used up that chance. Sorry Father's day had this down moment for your Dad.
