I and my two youngest children volunteered and have GAD certificates. My husband did not volunteer.

My children will be redeeming their GAD certificates for the fast pass option on our trip in May since we have already purchased 10 day MYW tickets as part of a package.

During our May trip I will be upgrading my MYW ticket to an annual pass. I'm the only one in the family upgrading to the annual pass as I will be taking multiple upcoming trips with various family members over the next year.

DH and I are taking an adults only trip in October. In October can I redeem my GAD certificate for a park ticket and then give the park ticket to DH for admission that day?

I guess what I am wondering is that when you redeem your GAD certificate do they hand you a regular one day ticket or is it someway tied to you specifically -- i.e. do they scan your finger when you exchange the certificate or only when you actually enter the park with the ticket?

GAD vouchers and the resulting tickets are non-transferable, unlike regular one-day MYW tickets. Reports are that they do scan your finger at Will Call. You may also have to sign the ticket - I'm not sure.

What you can do is redeem your voucher in May and upgrade to an AP, saving your package ticket from your May trip to let your DH use in October. The package ticket won't expire until you use it, and you can have it taken off your KTTW card so your DH can use it in October (you don't have to have it taken off the KTTW card, but you'd have to carry the old card with you for the ticket). Since it will be an unused MYW ticket, it is transferrable.

If you don't need a 10-day MYW ticket for October, you can either:

downgrade your May package to the number of days you will need in October, then upgrade individual tickets after check-in (Disney may charge a $50 change fee since you are within 45 days of arrival). Save your ticket for DH in October - it will now have the correct number of days.

save the 10-day MYW ticket for your DH in October and add the no-expiration option in October (may or may not be worth it depending how long you will be there - no-expiration is 222.59 for a 10-day ticket)

downgrade your May package to include one-day tickets (if you can - some packages like the gift card package require a minimum number of days), then upgrade each ticket individually - your DH's and kids' tickets in May, your ticket (given to your DH) in October

Thank you for your help.

The 10 day ticket in May is a full PH and WP&M and we need all of those features for our May trip.

The October trip is only a 2-3 day trip -- not sure if we will be in the parks on two days or three days and we don't need the WP&M option.

We would be charged the $50 charge fee at this point plus we most likely wouldn't receive the refund before the May trip if I was to downgrade at this point. The best thing to do would be to downgrade everyone to a 1 day ticket and them upgrade everything when we get there but that then puts over $1,000 in limbo which both DH and I are not comfortable with at this point.

Too bad we didn't decide on the October trip for certain earlier.

Nothing is ever easy.....back to recalculating how to handle this......

Thanks again.
