Non-DVC. Can someone give me a description of a typical GCH standard-DT-Park room view? Any chance of a pool view in a non-DVC room (didn't see it in the categories when I was playing around with the ressie system online)? Thanks!

Not sure if these were "typical" room views, but here is what we saw when we stayed in the following:

Park View: Grizzly River Rapids...this view was positively amazing! We had a lovely, large longish balcony with some evergreen trees nearby. We could the walkway by GRR and the back of it. We could see the park come alive. I would jump at the chance for this view again.:thumbsup2

Standard View: Sort of a resort view, landcaping and such. We could see a bit of the fireworks between two of the other buildings/wings. It was pretty darn nice for a standard view. We liked it a lot and would definitely book "standard" again based on our first experience with staying in a standard room.

I know a lot of people like the DTD view, but that would be our last choice for the simple fact that we love to sit on our balcony and enjoy privacy. I wouldn't like sitting out there in my GCH robe and have all the people walking by looking at me!! LOL!

Staying at the GC is WONDERFUL!

We had a DTD view when we stayed at the GCH, we loved it!!!! We loved being able to open the sliding door and listen to the music and people in DTD. :) We were right across from Naples so we walked over there for pizza one night for dinner, came back and ate it in the room with the sounds in the background. I didn't sit on the balcony in a robe but we did sit on the balcony and it wasn't easy for people to see us, we had to lean over to get their attention to get waves (family tradition), we were on the second floor and people couldn't hear us very well down there.

We stayed in a non-DVC "resort view" room this past September. I believe the "resort view" generally means looking inward to the pool whereas "park view" is a view of DCA. Kind of confusing! Here's a view from our balcony:

Our first stay at the GCH was in a standard view room and the "view" was mostly of the angled rooftop right outside our room. If we really stood up and stretched our necks, we caught a glimpse of one of the pools. I would definitely request the Brisa Courtyard view (the brick courtyard with the monorail running through and the sound of crickets chirping during twilight) if I were to have a standard view room again.
