I have a reservation for Saratoga Springs for this December that was originally made by a DVC member that required a roll-in shower. While we don't have a problem with using a roll-in shower I was thinking that there probably aren't too many of these room's available at the resort and perhaps somebody who actually needed one might be looking for a room. I tried calling the (407) 827-1100 number but lost my patience after waiting about 30 minutes and hung up. Is there some other number to reach them?

They won't speak to you, so I wouldn't bother calling. They will only speak with the owner of the points used to book, and only make changes (as possible) while speaking to that owner.

The reality is that December is basically booked solid. You are in a booking category, and to switch it requires availability in another booking category. While we aren't supposed to be looking up specific dates, I can tell you that availability basically doesn't exist.

Your booking is what it is.

I would let them know when you check in. Maybe someone couldn't get one, that needs it, and you could end up helping someone out. Doesn't hurt and at least you can say you tried.

As already mentioned, only the owner can make that change as it is his/her reservation and you are simply their guest. If what you are in is a booking category, and not a request, then you will have to keep it as is.

And if it shows on the booking, it is a category not a request. If you can see it, it is category. End user cannot see the requests in MDE.

I agree. Whatever happens don't lose sleep over it, it's not your fault. Enjoy your vacation!

It was most likely the last room that was available for your request, if someone else needed it they would have booked it prior to when the owner reserved the room for you. If some needs a roll in shower now they cannot even get a " regular" room.

As others posted already, DVC will only speak to the owner.
If the owner originally made it for a roll in shower, that is not only a booking category, it is a guaranteed booking category according to the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act).
You can try to change it at check in - it’s possible someone who wanted a roll in shower just made a reservation for a regular room because there were none a available when their reservation was made.
