Question from a newbie about adding on points.

Hi all,

We're thinking about taking the plunge and have hundreds of questions.

I'll start with this one which is confusing me : we would like to buy into the BCV as it is probably where we'd like to stay the most and would want to take advantage of the 11 month reservation window.

My question is, if we buy 150 points in BCV and then add on 50 or 100 points on at another resort say WLV do we get to book 11 months in advance at either/both resorts or does this only apply to the resort where you purchase initally ?

You would have the 11 month booking window for your 150 BCV points at BCV and the 11th month window for you 100 VWL points at VWL. You would not be able to combine the 2 at the 11 month window and have 250 points to book at BCV. You could however do this for the 7th month window at either resort.

Keep in mind of banking and borrowing rules to. If you own 100 VWL point and bank your 2002 points into 2003, you could then borrow your 2004 points and have 300 points in 2003 to make a reservation at VWL at the 11 month window.

Everything TerryS said is correct. I just wanted to add, that currently at VWL, all use years with the exception of Feb are sold out through DVC. You would have to either get on the waitlist for an add-on, or buy through resale. So, that might be something to think about if you are considering buying soon.

Also keep in mind that with banking and borrowing you could have up to 450 BCV points and 300 VWL points at the 11 month window if you needed them in your example scenario. You can have up to three years' worth of points at one time by banking forward, using current year points and borrowing the next. You could simply alternate stays each year and always use the 11 month window to book.
