We have been in the atrium area for the Captain's reception (I think that was what it was called) and we weren't sure if there was a charge for the drinks. Can anyone shed some light on this? How do you know if the drinks are free or not?

Thanks!

On the Captain's Gala reception night they walk with drinks on a tray and they are complimentary, there are also free drinks at the castaway club party.
The waitors usually say they are complimentory beverages or something like that. Don't be confused with embarkation and if they ask you if you would like a welcome aboard drink (which of course I always DO want :) ) those you have to sign for and are charged to your kttw card.

Thank you AnnMorin! I'll have to check it out more closely next time!

I didn't realize there was no charge for these drinks either (but then, we have never been to the Captain's Gala before). Thanks for the info!

never be afraid to ask the CM if there is a charge for the beverage's. One thing I look for when I see CM's offering drinks, is the pad of paper they use to write your stateroom # on. If they do not have this, which happens quite rarely, they are probably free. However, the only 2 times I know they are complementary are the Captains gala and CC Party. Your Navigator might say complementary drinks.

The servers got my nephew. After being primed with free drinks for the Gala and the return cruiser's party, my nephew grabbed stuff off the tray the next night, drank and was then and upset to find he had to pay. So warn your kids and adults.
