Question for those who've dined at Cape May Clambake

We love seafood and have never tried the Clambake but are definitely going this August. The question is do we go on Sunday or Thursday night?

There are menu variations depending on what evening you dine... supposedly Sunday is the fried Cod and Thursday is fried calamari. Looking for opinions on those who've tried either (or both!). I love fried calamari when it's fresh and especially if they give you the tentacles.

Would love to hear all thoughts! Also, any other favorite menu items from the buffet, please share :).

Thanks!

Love this buffet. But if you are going expecting a real new england clam bake this is not the place. It is a buffet. I prefer the calamari. It is a hit or miss as to how good it is. Sometimes you go and it is overcooked and to chewy. But I like it anyway. I can get cod anytime here in the northeast so it is not exactly a treat. A clambake is supposed to be Lobster and steamers, corn on the cob and baked beans with an apple crumble and ice cream. This is not that it is a seafood buffet plain and simple with plenty for the landlubbers to choose from. Don't let this Deter you though it is still worth going.

Not sure what day of the week calimari is served but I have never had it there, but Cape May is one of our favorites. We visit every trip! The food is good, you can draw on the tablecloths and the kids Mac n cheese is the best on property IMO

I never realized there was a difference by day. We usually arrive on a Sunday and go that night, so I've naver had the calamari, but I must say that I LOVE it. You really can't go wrong on any night. Last time it was fried shrimp, and they were yummy!

And like the PP said, it's not really a clam bake. It's sort if a misleading name. It's just a buffet restaurant. Nothing really beachy or clambakey about it.

And try the clam chowder. It's the best I've ever had.

I love clam chowder!!

This place sounds great! I booked then cancelled a reservation there because it sounded silly since we live in SEATTLE!
We have access to awesome seafood anytime we want it. Didn't make sense to travel to Orlando to eat seafood.

Looks like the atmosphere is really neat though.

Well, I just ate here Sunday may 1st and they had calamari. It was yummy.

I preferred the fried shrimp to the fried calamari. The breading they use is kind of heavy.
