Question for those who split stays at resorts

Do you have one reservation or two? We're trying to add a day to our Oct trip at the Poly, but our room type isn't available. So, I was thinking of adding just a different room category, but I don't want to mess up our entire reservation, and I don't know if thats even possible. Can I add a different room or hotel for one night on the same reservation, or would I need a separate reservation? Thanks!

It would be a separate reservation, and since it would be one night, you'd have to pay the one night in full (deposit).
