I hated my birthing class. The nurse asked us in the beginning to raise our hands if we planned to have a med-free birth, and I raised my hand. I was one of only 2 women to raise a hand. The nurse actually laughed at us and then said, "Ok, I hope that works out for you (scoff)." Then she proceeded to talk about epidurals and drugs for the entire session. No info on what I was hoping for at all. In any case, I did have the med-free birth I planned and hoped for.
I think the best thing to do is seriously consider the type of birth you want. Medicated, med-free, water, home, hospital, etc. Then do research on the best birthing class or book for you and go that route. That way, you will get the most relevant information for your situation and plan. I respect all birth plans, but mine was focused on going med-free so I got a lot of books on that type of birthing and just picked the best methods for me.
HAH! If you weren't in Florida I would think that was my husband-- he said the same thing and everyone died!

The thing I remember from our childbirth class (it has been quite a few years) is as follows:
We were doing the relaxation techniques...the lights were turned off...there was nice, relaxing music playing...all the guys are massaging the wives...
when one of the other dads says "wait a minute!!!....this is what led to us being in this class!"
cracked us all up...![]()
