Hi! I know there has been much talk here about recent airfares being so high. I am trying to book our July airfare through jet blue. When I started looking it was $119 one way NY to Orlando, which I thought was alot so I waited, checking every couple of days. Well, now it is as high as 169 or the lowest $139 each way for our dates. We, of course, do not want to pay this but want to fly Jet Blue so DH said I better book the $139 flights before they go up anymore.

My question is: If the flights go down at any point can I get an adjustment from jet blue? I thought I read a couple of posts here where people said something about getting this or getting atleast an adjustment toward a future flight. If this is true, how do you go about that when you book on line? Thank You so much as I want to book these flights now before they go up another 20 dollars. However, I am thinking what if in a couple of months, they actuallly go down? Any advice or help is very appreciated.

Thanks! :sunny:

I love JetBlue but my prices have never gone down! I do know that they will issue you a credit if by chance they do go down. I have asked in the past. Book while you can... Airfare from NY is getting out of control!

If prices go down, you can get a credit. I believe there is still a change fee, but they have waived that for me on occasion. For the past three years, Song has been our fav' but with Delta adding in 1st class to those planes and not guaranteeing the seatback TVs, I think we are switching to JetBlue as our preferred.

Thank you for the responses. Well, I think I blew it for this trip with Jet Blue. I was all set to buy the tickets at what I thought was high enough, $139 each way and as I went to get my credit card info. etc. they jumped 5 more dollars. Well, I'm saying oh no oh no and DH who was in the other room, is yelling at me at this point. He did tell me to book a few weeks ago when they were $119, but I had some hope that maybe they would go down a little if I waited. I certainly did not think they would go up this fast since the flight is in July. Well, then to top it all off the one flight that was now 144 because they all went up 5 dollars, changed to $174 when I said I wanted 3 tickets instead of one. Oh Help!! I blew it. Well, DH is upset with me and very angry at Jet Blue and now I am going to watch South west and see if I can get those seats for cheaper. Yeah sure! LOL!

pumpkinboy: We always flew Jet Blue and were very happy, but now we are very dissappointed in the way their prices keep going up and up. Yes, I understand with the oil and gas increases, that all prices will eventually
increase and I understand we are flying on a busy week in July, however to have one price one minute and then go up 5 dollars within another is very frustrating. Good Luck to you with alll your future flights! :sunny:

P.S. To think I was concerned what happens if prices go down, ha! They got me good. I should have listened to DH. Oh boy!! Thanks again for the responses and advice all.

I feel your pain!!! I am trying to put together a trip to Tampa to visit my ds in mid-March. I could have booked it for about $89 each way last Thursday, but waited to be sure of my dates after talking to dh. On Friday morning they had spiked to about $159 each way!!!

disgirl,

Put your dates in again checking with just one passenger. If the lower rate still comes up call them and they will seperate the ressies (give you seperate confirmation numbers) and credit you the difference. This happened to me last year and when I called they took care of it. I'm not sure why that happens but I was able to get credit for all 7 of my passengers.

I'm in the same boat. I would love to fly jet blue for our August trip but it's not worth the extra $100 (or more) a person. I am hoping that when Southwest opens their fares for Aug the other fares will drop.

just my 2 cents.... I was hoping to change my flight to this Friday night instead of Saturday Am out of Newark or JFK .....so I started checking prices....found a flight for $119 - by the time I made up my mind - it was $169!! a little upset, I called JetBlue to fingd out why...here's what their reservations person told me: when JetBlue first puts a flight out - they put 9 seats (or so) on sale for a price ( let's say $69) , when those 9 seats are sold - another 9 are put on sale for $20 higher and so on and so on....so as the plane fills, the price gets higher... makes sense to me ...price goes with demand.

a couple of things you can do....join JetBlue's TrueBlue program - no cost, you earn miles towards a free trip and they have always changed my flights with no penalty charge...

also, check every day....the flight I wanted for this coming friday night was $139 - and then, dropped to $99 one morning last week! I was so excited and called my anti-spouse immediately to see if he could leave work early enough... :guilty: by the time he got back to me, the price was $119 and climbing...I checked this morning and now it's $229!! lol .... lesson learned...

We just used the credit from our previous JetBlue flights that went down for our last trip to Disney.

Just a few years ago, it was easy to rebook for free when rates dropped after a ticket purchase. Now everyone charges a fee for this service, which often wipes out any ticket price savings.

Currently the charge of JetBlue to change a ticket is $30.00.

If the savings is on your same flight time, day, number, then there is no charge, if the savings is on another flight, time, day or number then there is a $30 charge. But any savings will be held by Jetblue for use by the FF# or CC# the orginal itinery was charged agaisnt.

I have always said that Jetblue is like Disney Cruise Line, book early (1st day of release,) as they fill up, so too the prices go up too. Unless there is a sale, I have never had my fare go down but then I have always booked at the 69/79 a seat cost, your best bet is book when the schedule opens. You also get best choice of seats then.

I am going nuts waiting for JetBlue to release their fall schedule. Anybody have any inside, or historical, information on when I can expect this to happen?

I called JetBlue and they said that they will probably release dates beyond Sept 6 in 2 or 3 weeks.

I always try to fly Jetblue, and find that sometimes their airfare isn't significantly more than any other airlines.

If you book a ticket and the fare drops, you just need to call Jetblue and they will give you a credit for the difference to use towards your next flight. They will not charge you for a change in your ticket. However, you have to call them when the fare drops, Jetblue won't call you! I've done this many times, and there's never been a problem.
