Question for those who do not like the Minnie character breakfast food...

Hi all,
We just found out we are going back to DLR this year (we originally thought it would be at least two years until we could make it work) so now starts the planning... We went to a character breakfast last year in December and LOVED the idea- my DD7 loves loves loves seeing the characters and it was great food (we did storytellers). However, we paid big $$ and saw 4 characters from 10-11:30 am... not including 1 that skipped our area completely who shall remain nameless (just saying its CHIP and DALE'S breakfast- we should at least meet them lol).... anyway- needless to say we are interested in Minnie's character breakfast to meet all the fun characters- however I'm concerned as I've heard the food is ok or even bad! For those that didn't or don't recommend or like the food can you explain why- is it old, tastes bad, poor selection, etc? We weren't impressed with storytellers selection (pastery, make your own omlette, eggs, potatoes, meats, fruits) it was pretty basic, but it was GOOD. My family is happy as long as we have scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage and fruit (I don't complain about the make your own omlette station lol). Hoping to find a good mix of fun characters and decent food. TIA

I've found the selection of food to be about the same at all of the character breakfasts. Goofy's had a bit more, and I haven't been to Ariel's, but the other three were basically the same food.

The amount of characters are definitely disappointing for the amount you spend. I liked it much better when there were more. I'm hoping that at least Minnie's keeps the amount and the variety. The others have a lot of duplication. On our last trip we did three character meals and saw a total of 10 different characters, and that is counting Mickey and Goofy who don't come to the tables.

I am not sure if I can be much of a help as our family loves the food. As long as your kids love waffles, French toast, syrup, etc... They should really like it. For adults. they can eat the food just mentioned or have an omelet from the omelet Chef. there is also fresh fruit. Juice.

If you want your kid to eat a healthy breakfast it may be a bit hard to reign them in here... Our kids eat healthy at home so this breakfast is fun for them to eat a lot of things that are more sugary.

Also keep the adult expectations in check. If you go here for an adult B-Day or anniversary it might be underwhelming due to expectations??? I would love it though...

Main thing is do not rush (be prepared for 1.5-1.75 hours)

We did storytellers for the first time this December. We had good interaction, but I thought the food was ok. I said to my husband, the food is better at Minnies Breakfast. The eggs we so runny at Storytellers, they were inedible. At Minnies, they have eggs,bacon, sausage and biscuits and gravy. Plenty of fruit,, cereal and pastries. I like you can get your drink and kids, can have the bottles of chocolate milk. We always see plenty of character at Minnies. The only thing I will say I liked better at Storytellers was the service. I saw Vince Vaughn with his family at Storytellers, that was kinda neat. Overall, Minnie is the Disneyland, so you are right in the park!!

We did Minnie's last September...TONS of character interaction. I thought the food was good. As PP said, eggs, bacon, sausage, b & g, fresh fruit, omelet station, waffles with banana-caramel sauce (THIS alone was worth it, OMG...so good!). We had a 9am reservation on a Saturday and saw:

Done Minnie's a few times and every time left feeling like it was bad cafeteria food. Pretty tasteless and bland, but they have to be for the amount of people that go through there. Storyteller's used to be my go to for breakfast but they have gone down hill in my opinion as well. Micky's surfs up PCH grill is my favorite. Food is good and character interaction has always been the best for us there.

For me, it's all about the eggs.

As you mentioned, the Grand has the omelet area. I don't think Minnie's has that. And their eggs, just like the scrambled eggs at all of them, are scrambled egg "product". Those are vile to my tastebuds and my nose. I cannot handle it, and if I have a taste of them I just shut down and can't eat more. At Minnie's I think I ate 2 mini chocolate croissants and some coffee. Taht's it. The eggs destroyed it for me.

At Surf's Up, they have an omelet station and they also, as far as I know, still have a station where they'll make huevos rancheros. As in, you watch them crack an egg into a pan and cook it for you. Now THAT is what I'm talking about.

I won't do any character meal but that one, and if I find out they don't have that station anymore, I'm done there, too.

For us, it isn't so much the food quality at Minnie's, but "line up with a cafeteria tray and be served" aspect. I find it a little depressing to carry a tray around at a $30 meal - I prefer to choose all my own food at a buffet and I want a server to bring my drinks. As long as you are okay with that aspect, it will be fine, IMO.

Goofy's brunch was our favorite meal but now that the characters are changed to the more typical one you see at character meals, I am not sure if we will do that one so we may return to Minnie's...still trying to talk my husband into it as he really found Minnie's a little...downscale, LOL. He is pushing for Storytellers, ParkHopper1, can you tell me what exactly is going down hill with Storytellers?

We had the 1.5 hours for four (three?) characters experience at Minnie's, so it happens everywhere I think. We actually didn't see anyone for an hour until we complained and then other families sent their kids to but in on my 2 year old who had been sitting for so long. I don't read this much about Minnie's and I'm pretty sure our late seating was part of it. We tried to make a brunch of it. So... Eat early would be my advice! I don't remember the food either way.

The " unofficial guide to disneyland 2015 " rates the Plaza Inn as only one and a half stars out of five, making it the lowest ranked restaurant in DLR, but that's only one opinion. They are pretty reliable for the most part, but they also rate Goofy's Kitchen as two stars, which just doesn't seem right, as many people love it. They might just be opposed to any buffet style restaurant there is, and the character interaction at Minnie's is probably the best of all the character meals. Their food isn't the best, but not horrible either, and you go there for the characters, not the food.

IF you have a reservation during peak times. Both times I was there was towards the end of breakfast and character interaction was HORRIBLE. I really didn't care cuz both times were a party of adults but I remember thinking how pi$$ed I would have been had I been there with kids wanting to meet characters.
