Question for those on WW

I meant to dig out my point sheet yesterday but forgot.....this morning I'm having a nature valley 100% crunchy granola bar Oats 'N Honey, it has 180 calories, total fat 6 grams - so how many points does that translate into.

For lunch I am having a WW meal that is 3 points.

The one bad thing I am having is a 20 oz MTN dew but I had to have something to wake me up (I know I gotta come up with a different drink), not sure how many points the soda is I think it is like 5 or something. It's been a while since I've tried to do the points.

Wish me luck!

Cristy -- It is 3 or 4 depending on the fiber. 0-3 grams of fiber = 4 pts. If there are 4 or more grams fiber, it is 3 pts.

ETA -- Your 20 oz mountain dew is 5.5 pts! Any chance of finding a diet soda with caffeine that you could substitute?

Some of the diet stuff gives me a headache, I wonder how bad it would be to just drink water and take a NoDoz which is technically just a caffeine pill?

Thanks for your reply on the points. Only 2 grams of fiber in my bar so it's 4 points.....guess I'll look for something new for breakfast. Would the fiber be what I'm looking at for oatmeal too?

Thanks,

Cristy

It is a formula based on calories, grams of fat, and grams of fiber. Some people think of every 50 calories as 1 point and then increase the points for fat and decrease the points for large # of grams of fiber. Personally, I don't think it is that simple, though you can sometimes "eyeball" the nutrition information to get an idea.

As for the caffeine thing -- I went caffeine free as of Sunday, because I am training to walk the WDW 1/2 marathon in January and decided I'd try to eat and drink overall more healthy. After the headaches the first 2 days, I was fine. I really do rely on protein now for energy. This morning I had the Quaker Weight Control banana bread oatmeal for breakfast -- it has 6g of protein. I'm still not hungry, and I'm not really suffering for the lack of caffeine from coffee. I love coffee, though, so I still drink decaf. I hope you can find something that works for you. Using 5+ points each morning for mountain dew will leave you hungry the rest of the day. Good luck!

I find it really interesting that there is a differetn version of WW's in the UK. Over here we don't factor in the fibre when calculating points!

Good luck Cristy! :goodvibes

I didn't know that catherine. That is very interesting. Is it pretty much one point per lean 50 calories?
