Ok guys............(wives, girlfriends, daughters etc. can answer this too) I am packing for our trip. I need to know what park bag the men like to carry? I am not carrying the bag if I can help it. (before you tell me how mean I am, I have spent the past 7 years carrying the diaper bag and my purse) I am sure I will end up carrying it some of the time but I am looking for him to be the "pack mule" on this trip!:) I know what kind of bag I am interested in but my DH is refusing to carry anything that anyone will mistake for a purse or could be concidered the least bit feminine:rolleyes: Guys, could you let me know what style and brand of bag you like to carry and what you like about it? If you are not one of the guys, please apply this question to the man in your life. Thanks!!

Not a guy, but my DH's dad carries a rugged-looking messenger bag he bought at Target a couple of years ago, and my dad uses a soft-sided brief-bag when he goes out. Neither of the bags look like purses, but I will say my Dad does not use the shoulder strap but rather carries his by the short handles (but I don't think it would look girlie if he used a shoulder strap).

When we don't have the stroller with us to store everything, DH carries a backpack(adorned with winnie-the-pooh, but you could get a plain one), and eosn't mind at all throwing it on his back. Anytime I need something out of it, he just bends down a bit and I take it out without him even taking it off his back!

I bought a smallish all black backpack so I wouldn't be the only only one to carry it. DH seems fine with that and he has carried my huge red one hiking before. I'll let you know if plan worked in a week or so!:lmao:

and I'm planning our first trip to WDW, we leave next Friday for a week long stay. I plan on carrying a regular backpack. My wife and I both will carry backpacks. Just a regular backpack that you would carry in college. We plan on using these also as our carry on's for the plane as well.

Both ds 4 and dd 8 will have fanny packs to carry misc candy and toys.

I'm a 35 year old father of 2 if that helps.

My DH doesn't carry a bag of any kind. He wears those cargo pants/shorts. lots of big pockets to hold lots of stuff...and doesn't have to go through bag check.

My H would be willing to carry any type of backpack. For the trip I bought a Bagalini messenger in black. He is willing to hold that without getting the uncomfortable "I am holding a purse" look most guys get.
I find it holds everything I need for happy touring and we take turns holding the bag.

My DH has always carried the "park bag" whenever we go places. :cloud9:

Usually he wears a waist pack (aka fanny pack  ), but when we are at WDW he does wear a backpack. He just used a basic Jan sport pack he had from college. He carried everything for us...2 water bottles, the maps, 2 autograph books, 4 ponchos, 4 pairs of sunglasses/cases, hats, camera and whatever else ended up in there. I packed it/unpacked it each day and he wore.

My DB also wears a backpack. He bought a new one for our last trip and it was snazzy! It had lots of pockets and outside mesh slots for water bottles. It also had a strap that would snap on his upper chest and alleviate some of the weight from his shoulders. It was just him and his wife; they carried jackets in their backpack as well.

We had backpack envy and will be shopping for a new pack before our December trip! :thumbsup2 Both guys looked very manly carring the stuff for the women and children...lol.

I think it depends on how MUCH you plan on carrying. We have gotten away with a "mini" backpack, on the last trip I used a backpack, carried everything from snacks to baby wipes, extra batteries, 3 poncho's, water, all kinds of stuff....

So, if you dont plan on taking alot, a small backpack would work....
if you plan on taking a bunch of stuff go for something larger,

The most I carry is a small camera case that clips onto my belt. If it doesn't fit in there or my pockets, then I don't need it in the parks.

I carry a backpack with ponchos in it and my camera and a first aid kit. I also carry some wipes and pens. My DW adds a small bag with her stuff. OOPS, almost forgot.... GRUMPY rides along too on my backpack.

My dh an I both carry a fanny pack. That way both of us are carrying a little and no one gets tired/sore from carrying a bag by themselves. Also both of us have our hands free to hold on to the rides. LOL We love this plan--it is so much easier. Of course we have our LGMH's attached.

DH would only carry a regular backpack. He would not carry anything that was too feminine or could be mistaken for a purse. We ended up just taking my son's school backpack because it only had 1 big compartment and 2 smaller ones. It was just easier when you had to go through bag inspections. We took turns carrying the backpack, the kids even pitched in, but DH did most of the carrying. We also used the backpack as our carry-on.

What we seem to be using the most lately is a light blue backpack. My DH could give a care less though, about things being girly. He puts that in the same category as picking up tampons at the store- people will just know that he is married and/or has a family. No big deal. We've also used a messenger bag and he did say that he preferred that because it was easier for him to carry (he's really tall). Good luck! I'm sure we will be sad when the kids eventually don't need a stroller and we have to carry it all

I carry a backpack cooler filled with water and snacks. I've also carried a conventional bookbag type backpack.

We have a 4 year old, and we usually take a backpack that we put everything in. Since we've always taken our stroller, we usually stowed it in the storage compartment underneath. As for me personally, I have a black and charcoal gray bag with a shoulder strap from Banana Republic, that I use as a carry-on when we fly, and I take it to the parks with me. It's only about 8' wide, 10' high, 4' deep with pockets on the flap and the back, and has 2 compartments and another inside pocket. It's been known to hold a camera and a video camera, iPod, PSP, tickets and maps, and more.

Been going to WDW for years...just a regular backpack has worked for us.

Just a regular backpack and I wear cargo shorts
