Last night I noticed a pea-sized lump behind my ear. It's hard and doesn't really move but the skin over it does when I mush it around if that makes any sense. I'm pretty sure it's just a swollen lymph node- I had this years ago and raced to the Dr in a panic(it was 3 weeks before my wedding, I was a bit stressed, lol) Anyway, I feel the slightest bit of a cold and today the glands in my throat are a bit swollen but I feel ok. Does this warrant a trip to the Dr or am I ok just waiting a week or so to see if this bump goes away? I wouldn't have even knwn this stupid lump was there if I hadn't put my hair behind my ear. Now I can't stop touching the thing:confused3

I would wait. It sounds like a swollen glands. My DS17 gets those in the glands at the base of his skull. I could always tell when he was younger that he was getting sick buy those glands.

I would wait and see for now, especially if you feel a cold coming on. Generally, if you're otherwise healthy, that's pretty much what the doc will tell you to do anyway, to watch it for about a month and see if it goes away. But I've noticed that if I get swollen glands, even if I feel fine, I'll usually be sick the next day. So yea, I'd just wait for now.

It's likely a swollen gland.. We just went through this with DGD last week.. It was pretty large - right behind her ear - and felt more like a stone than a gland.. She's also been having problems with a stiff neck and headache recently, so DD took her to the pediatrician.. Sure enough, there's a gland there - phew!! She's fine now - it went away by itself..:santa:

Thanks guys. I'll wait it out and hopefully it will be gone by New Year's:thumbsup2

Sometimes it takes weeks and weeks before it goes back to normal.

I found one in the same spot on DD10 when she was a baby. I flipped out. It did take a few weeks to go away, but it did, and she is fine.

I've had one of these along my jaw line for YEARS. It's about the size of a pea and hasn't changed at all in all these years. I'd say 7 years at least.
