Question for the Brits?

The only thing we get taught about Ireland is the IRA and the catholic protestant divide. And it had been at peace for 12years until last week. No expert on british history here:goodvibes

Hey Ryan -tackle hugs-

'Allo :)

i heard recently that the red-hair gene was slowly going to be bred out...

Red hair is a random mutation in a gene, it's not passed on so it could appear at any time:confused3

probly same reason we think blonds are dumb

Not really. I have red hair because my grandfather and dad do. It's hereditary.
It may have started that way (just as it's theorized that blue eyes did) but now it's passed down the way any other physical trait is.

And there's tons of ginger jokes in America, too.
I get teased for it all the time. It's just friendly, though. Not as if anyone actually looks down on me for my hair color.

But apparently in New Zealand there's real prejudice about it.
My cousin lived there for a while, and she said that her redheaded roommate had a difficult time with it.
Once after..hmmm...spending the night with a guy, the guy woke up the next morning next to her, looked over at her, and said disgustedly, "Not a GINGER!" and got up and left.
So I won't be making a trip there anytime soon. Hahah

Really? There's ginger jokes here? Hm.
I died my hair red once and it looked fab and everyone thought it was great. I never even heard any redhead jokes. I'm probably going to dye it again this late spring/summer.

Mickey, I know I've said this a million times but I LOVE your hair!

Firecrotch is the one I hear the most.
Ginger, ging, gingie.. etc I hear a lot to.
It's never a good thing to be called.. although most people I know say it playfully.

Yep, same with me. My dad doesn't have red hair, but when he has facial hair it's red. And my great grandfather on my mom's side had red hair.

I get the jokes too, like being called a clown and a devil and stuff. But nothing too serious.

Wow that's terrible. Guess I won't be either. xD

Oh yeah, firecrotch also. I've heard that quite a few times.

we have red-head jokes here too, but we say ranga instead of ginger

Ugh yes really. There doesn't have to be any ginger people in your family for you to be born ginger, it's highly unlikely but still possible.
(And I'm not saying that it can't be passed on I was saying it doesn't need to be passed on).
